Your actual bonus depends on which rooms, designs and storage furniture you have unlocked and placed.
What Outpost furniture storage actually does
Outpost furniture is not purely decorative. Certain pieces expose their own storage capacity and accept specific item categories, letting you keep equipment beyond the slot count shown for your normal stash. The Outpost capacity should therefore be treated as a separate pool rather than an automatic increase to the standard stash number.

You must complete the Outpost project before you can use its rooms and furniture. Embark’s Frozen Trail 2.0 update tells players to accept the Outpost quest and bring a camera. A current guide identifies the project as Sheltered Retreat and describes three kinds of objectives: taking a required photo, delivering materials and completing damage-related objectives.

Requirements can change with patches or account progress, so use the project tracker in your current game as the authoritative checklist. Gather only the materials and complete the objectives that tracker lists for your version.
Furniture designs are the crafting system
Frozen Trail 2.0 added 100 Furniture Designs. Embark explains that designs work similarly to blueprints: learn a design, then use it to craft the corresponding furniture for your Outpost.
Learning a design does not automatically fill your rooms with storage. You still have to craft the piece, place it where the Outpost allows and confirm that it has a storage role. Prioritize designs whose in-game description shows an item capacity instead of assuming every unlocked design adds slots.
Which furniture stores items?
Current furniture references identify several storage-bearing categories. A weapon rack is intended for weapons, while shelves, tables and cabinets can accept other item types. The exact accepted categories are shown on each item’s interface.

How to turn furniture into practical extra storage
- Finish the Outpost project. Accept the quest, bring the camera and follow the objectives shown by your project tracker.
- Learn designs. Treat Furniture Designs like blueprints and unlock pieces as you obtain them.
- Filter for storage roles. Select racks, shelves, tables or cabinets whose details display a capacity or storage function.
- Check crafting requirements. Compare the materials required with what you can reliably obtain; a high-capacity piece is not useful if it blocks progress behind scarce materials.
- Place and inspect the furniture. After placement, open its interaction panel and record the slot count and allowed item types shown for that exact piece.
- Match furniture to inventory. Put weapons in racks and use shelves, tables or cabinets for the categories they accept. Do not waste a weapon-only rack on general loot.
- Expand rooms and repeat. Additional room or upgrade unlocks create more opportunities to place storage furniture, but placement slots can be limited.
How much extra storage can you expect?
One 2026 AllThingsHow guide characterizes a fully furnished Outpost as potentially adding “hundreds” of spaces beyond the standard stash. That is a contingent estimate, not an official capacity total or a promise that every player receives the same number. It depends on the furniture designs you have learned, the rooms and upgrades available to you, the pieces you craft and the capacities those pieces display.
Embark’s official Frozen Trail update confirms the 100-design system but does not state a total number of Outpost storage slots. Do not add a fixed number to your stash calculation unless your own game interface shows it.

Choosing storage furniture without wasting materials
- Capacity: Prefer the piece with the larger displayed capacity when both serve the same purpose.
- Eligibility: A high-capacity shelf is only useful if it accepts the items you need to store.
- Crafting cost: Compare material requirements with your current supply and the value of freeing standard-stash slots.
- Design access: Account for whether the design comes from a Topside find, an Outpost upgrade, the Frozen Trail Pass or Collector Set DLC.
- Placement: Reserve usable wall and floor positions; community references report clipping and blocked placement slots in some layouts.
There is no verified universal “best” layout. Room dimensions, unlocked upgrades and available designs differ, and reported clipping means a theoretically efficient arrangement may not fit cleanly in your Outpost.

Assuming every decoration adds slots
Only furniture with a storage role contributes item capacity. Inspect the item details before spending materials.

Keep the two systems separate when planning runs. The Outpost may hold additional items without changing the number displayed for the normal stash.

Ignoring item restrictions
If a deposit fails, open the furniture panel and check its eligible categories. Move the item to a compatible rack, shelf, table or cabinet.
Following an old layout guide exactly
Furniture behavior and placement can be version-sensitive. Recheck capacities and collision behavior after updates, and trust the values shown in your current build.
Bottom line for players seeking more stash space
Crafting storage-bearing Outpost furniture is a legitimate way to hold more items in ARC Raiders. The system starts with the Sheltered Retreat project, expands through learned Furniture Designs and works through individually placed racks, shelves, tables and cabinets. “Hundreds” of extra spaces is plausible for a well-developed Outpost, but it remains a guide’s conditional estimate. Use the capacity and item-type information displayed on your own furniture to calculate the bonus you actually have.
