Where to use the Stella Montis Archives Key
Look for the Storage Room on the upper floor at the east side of the Archives. Guides place it beyond Cultural Archives, near the far northeastern edge of that wing. The ARC Raiders Wiki item record likewise describes the destination as the top-floor Storage Room on the east side. These are guide and community-database descriptions, not official Embark instructions, so use the door’s interaction prompt to confirm you have the right lock.

Do not confuse it with the Medical Storage Key: that key is for the Medical Research door, not the Archives Storage Room.
How to reach the door
One reported route starts at Communications, goes through a vent tunnel, and follows the corridor past Cultural Archives signage. From there, reach the Archives floor by staircase or zipline and continue toward the east end. This is a guide-reported route, not a guaranteed or official path; check your surroundings and map as you move.

If you are approaching from the map edge rather than already inside Stella Montis, the crossing to the Archives can be long. A guide’s practical recommendation is to use the key when your raid route already takes you through the interior, rather than making a special trip solely for the room.
Is the key reusable?
Do not count on reusing it. The community-maintained wiki lists the key’s stack size as one, and a guide reports that it is consumed when the door opens. The exact behavior is not established by an official source here, so check the current in-game item and interaction behavior if preserving the key matters to your run.
Where to find the key
The item record lists scavenging as a source. A guide reports random container drops and suggests checking residential containers, but no guaranteed spawn location or dependable farming route is documented. Treat it as a chance find, not a fixed-spawn hunt.

What loot is in the Storage Room?
Guides describe a room with multiple lootable containers, including breachable storage crates or boxes, drawers, cabinets, weapon cases, and raider backpacks. One guide also reports table drawers, a valuables suitcase, a computer, and loose medical and mechanical items. Those are reported container types; they do not guarantee a particular item or that every container will be present or worthwhile in a given raid.

Shacknews contributing editor John Schutt reported finding an Aphelion, a purple Battle (Defensive) Augment, and additional valuables and materials on his own use of the key. That is one player’s account from one run, not a typical haul. No verified average room value, drop rate, or expected profit is available, and there is no basis to expect a specific blueprint or high-tier item.
Risks and whether the detour is worth it
Guides warn that the busy interior can bring Shredders and other raiders. They do not quantify how likely an encounter is, and the room’s contents are variable. Weigh the detour against your current position, the key’s apparent single-use cost, and the risk of fighting or being interrupted by other players. There is no controlled comparison showing that this room outvalues another key route.

What is confirmed—and what may change
The wiki records the item description as “Unlocks a door in the Archives in Stella Montis,” but it is a community-maintained item entry rather than a developer statement. The exact door placement, consumption behavior, route, and loot descriptions above come from community databases and gaming guides, not official Embark documentation. A future patch could change them; verify the prompt and current in-game behavior during your raid.
