The Trigger ‘Nade was nerfed in two separate ARC Raiders updates. On January 13, 2026, Embark changed its damage falloff and increased the delay from triggering the grenade to detonation from 0.7 seconds to 1.5 seconds. On April 28, a second update added delays after throwing and triggering, limiting how quickly players could chain grenade actions.
What changed in the January Trigger ‘Nade nerf?
Update 1.11.0, released January 13, 2026, changed the grenade’s blast behavior and timing. Embark said the Trigger ‘Nade had come to dominate PvP encounters and was being favored over other grenades.
- Damage falloff: Damage became more concentrated near the explosion center and fell off more at a distance. The notes do not give specific damage values or blast-radius measurements. Embark’s Update 1.11.0 notes describe the change.
- Trigger-to-detonation delay: The delay increased from 0.7 seconds to 1.5 seconds. This is the time between triggering the grenade and its explosion—not a delay before the grenade can be thrown.
Embark’s stated aim was to make a “trigger-in-air” throw harder while keeping the grenade useful as a sticky bomb. Triggering it in mid-flight means setting it off before it reaches a target or surface; the longer delay gives opponents more time to react and makes timing less forgiving. In a pre-patch interview, design lead Virgil Watkins also described the goal as requiring more precise placement for full damage and more lead time before detonation. That explains the intended design, not measured match results. Read the interview with Watkins.
What did the April update change?
Update 1.26.0, released April 28, 2026, addressed action cadence rather than changing the January blast behavior. Embark added delays that prevent players from chaining throws and triggers as quickly as before:

Embark said the change was intended to reduce grenade spam and prevent the trigger action for one grenade from prematurely detonating a second. These are action delays, distinct from January’s 1.5-second trigger-to-explosion delay. See the Update 1.26.0 notes.

Was there another Trigger ‘Nade nerf?
The August 18, 2026 Live Update 1.42.0 listed a known issue: the throw animation could fail when a player tried to detonate a Trigger ‘Nade immediately after throwing it. The notes did not announce another balance change. A known-issue listing is not itself a nerf, and it does not establish whether the issue remains present later. Read the Live Update 1.42.0 notes.
Embark’s September 29 store update said there would be no update the following Tuesday to make way for Frozen Trail on October 8. As of October 7, 2026, that release was still upcoming, so its changes cannot be treated as known here. See the September 29 store update.

What the patch notes do—and do not—show
The official notes document the published mechanics and Embark’s reasons for changing them. They do not provide controlled before-and-after win rates, damage statistics, or independent evidence of how the changes affected match outcomes. The notes therefore support describing the nerfs and their intent, but not claiming they “killed” or “fixed” the grenade.
