Search Industrial areas first, especially breachable metal crates in Generator Hall at Dam Battlegrounds’ Power Generation Complex. Hydroponic Dome Complex, Water Treatment Control, and Research and Administration are other Dam targets; Shipping Warehouse on Spaceport is an alternate. These are recommended search zones, not guaranteed spawns: no cited source provides a reliable drop rate.

Water Filters are classified as Rare, Industrial items with a recyclable role in the item database. Treat the locations below as places to search, not fixed spawn points; loot availability can vary, and current spawn tables are not confirmed by an official item listing.
Start at Generator Hall on Dam Battlegrounds
At the Power Generation Complex, check the breachable metal crates in Generator Hall and the connected corridors. PC Gamer identifies these crates as a strong target because there are several to search. Check each one before moving on; a single empty container does not mean the area is exhausted. Continue through other Dam Industrial areas
Hydroponic Dome Complex is another recommended Dam Battlegrounds stop; check shelves and nearby containers. Water Treatment Control and Research and Administration are additional Industrial targets. The latter has containers, cabinets, and breachable containers in side tunnels, according to All Things How’s location guide. The item database also lists Research and Administration and Power Generation Complex among its locations: MetaForge’s Water Filter entry.

If Dam Battlegrounds is already looted or your route makes another map more practical, search metal crates and other Industrial containers at Shipping Warehouse. PC Gamer lists it as an alternative, and MetaForge includes it among the item’s locations. Neither source establishes a drop-rate advantage over Dam.
How to search efficiently
- Prioritize areas marked Industrial and look for breachable metal crates or cabinets.
- At Generator Hall, search the hall and its connected corridors rather than stopping after the first crate.
- At Hydroponic Dome Complex and other listed locations, check shelves as well as containers.
- After finding a filter, decide whether to keep searching based on your project needs, remaining loot, extraction route, and nearby danger.
The cited guides do not quantify spawn probability, player traffic, or the safest extraction route. A named location can improve where you focus your search, but it cannot guarantee a filter or a safe raid.

Keep it, sell it, or convert it?
Check your active project checklist before disposing of a Water Filter. PC Gamer’s Avian Alarm project guide, accessed October 4, 2026, says the Heightened Alert Birds stage requires three Water Filters. That is a specific project requirement, not a general crafting requirement; check the live checklist in case content has changed.
