The company describes Takumi as more than an additional production office. Its stated aim is to strengthen Arc System Works’ overall game-development capabilities while creating a base for international cooperation. The studio is intended to support projects that can reach players worldwide and to connect the company with outside creative and development partners.

In its English announcement, Arc System Works calls Takumi “a strategic cornerstone for going beyond existing conventional game development frameworks and delivering an overwhelming sense of ‘ultimate excitement’ to players around the world.” The company also says it wants the studio to become “a powerful, outward-facing collaboration hub with a widespread global reach.” Those statements establish the intended direction, but they do not describe a specific production structure, budget or staffing target.

What game is Takumi making?
The first project publicly connected to the studio is an unnamed new fighting game chosen for METI’s IP360 initiative. No title, intellectual property, platforms, release window, gameplay features or project leaders have been announced.

That means the project cannot yet be identified as a new entry in any particular Arc System Works series. Existing company franchises are not evidence of the new game’s identity, and the announcement does not say whether the project uses an established license, an Arc System Works-owned property or an entirely new concept. Any claim about its roster, visual style, online features or launch systems would be speculation.
What “IP360” means in this announcement
IP360 is a METI-backed program connected to Japan’s broader effort to grow overseas sales of Japanese content. Gematsu reported a policy target of 20 trillion yen in overseas sales by 2033. The subsidy selection indicates that the fighting game has received support under that initiative; it does not itself reveal the game’s commercial model, planned markets or launch date.

Why Takumi matters to Arc System Works
Arc System Works presents the studio as part of a wider organizational expansion rather than a single-game team. The company’s language places equal emphasis on production and external collaboration: Takumi is expected to help deliver games while working as an outward-facing point of contact for partners and creators beyond the existing organization.

Is Arc System Works hiring for Takumi?
Yes. Arc System Works says it is significantly expanding recruitment for creators who can join the studio as founding members. The announcement directs applicants to the company’s official careers information. Current roles, employment conditions, disciplines and application deadlines should be checked there because the studio is still in its establishment phase and the announcement does not list individual openings.
- The “founding member” language refers to creators joining during the studio’s launch period.
- No headcount goal or department-by-department staffing plan has been published.
- The announcement does not specify whether every role will be based at the Shinjuku address.
What happens next
The immediate milestone is the November 2, 2026 opening. The next useful disclosures would be the fighting game’s name, its underlying IP, target platforms, development staff and release timing. Arc System Works may also clarify how Takumi’s collaboration function operates with external studios, publishers or international partners.

Until those details arrive, the reliable picture is straightforward: Takumi is a new Shinjuku-based Arc System Works studio, its first disclosed assignment is an unnamed METI-supported fighting game, and its longer-term purpose is to combine game production with global collaboration.
