The key distinction is that a playable dhampir lineage is a separate rules entry from a vampire monster: vampire weaknesses do not automatically apply to a dhampir character.
What the official dhampir lineage says
The published dhampir lineage lists Humanoid creature type, Darkvision, Deathless Nature, Spider Climb, and Vampiric Bite. It does not list vulnerability to radiant damage. The lineage text is reproduced in this rules reference; D&D Beyond identifies Van Richten’s Guide to Ravenloft as the source for the lineage in its article about playing a vampire in D&D.
Why vampire weaknesses do not automatically apply
A dhampir character option and a vampire monster stat block are different rules entries. Being vampire-adjacent in the fiction does not import every weakness assigned to vampire monsters. In the March 20, 2023 D&D Beyond article, contributing writer Kyle Shire explains that dhampirs “do not inherit a vampire’s laundry list of weaknesses like sunlight” while gaining a vampire’s hunger and bite. That is the article’s explanation of the lineage, not a separate erratum.
What to do if your dhampir takes extra radiant damage
If a character sheet or ruling gives your dhampir radiant vulnerability, check where that trait came from. The published lineage does not include it, so the difference may reflect homebrew, a third-party option, or a campaign-specific decision by the Dungeon Master. Confirm the character option and its source with your DM rather than applying vampire monster traits by assumption.

Check the rules version and source
D&D Beyond distinguishes content for 5e (2014) and 5.5e (2024) in its rules-version guidance. This answer concerns the dhampir lineage described in Van Richten’s Guide to Ravenloft. If you are using a different rules version, homebrew, or third-party lineage, check that option’s own traits instead of assuming they match.
