What EA’s update means for Madden 22 online play
EA’s service-update listing includes Madden 22 under October 20, 2025, for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, EA App, and Steam. As of October 8, 2026, that is the relevant official notice: Madden 22 online play should be treated as a retired service, not a current, temporary outage.

EA’s separate real-time server-status page lists Madden NFL 27 and Madden NFL 26, but not Madden 22. A green status for a newer Madden game does not show that Madden 22’s online service is available.
Can you still play Madden 22 offline?
EA says some games may remain playable offline after their online services are no longer available or supported: “In some instances, where the online services for a particular game may no longer be available or supported, the game may still be played and enjoyed offline.” That is a general statement, not confirmation that a particular Madden 22 mode or saved game works offline.

The official information reviewed does not establish which Madden 22 offline modes or saves remain usable on each platform. Check the game on your own system; do not assume that Franchise, saved progress, or another mode will work without a connection.
When troubleshooting steps may help
EA’s Madden connection troubleshooting guide recommends checking game and platform status, installing available updates, restarting the game and device, and restarting the router or modem. These steps can help diagnose a separate local, account, network, platform, or newer-game connection problem. They cannot restore Madden 22’s retired online service.

- For a different Madden title or another EA game, check that game’s EA status and the platform’s status.
- Install any available game and system updates, then restart the game and device.
- If the service is available but connection trouble continues, restart the router or modem and check your internet connection.
Running through these checks will not bring Madden 22 online play back if the problem is the retired service.
