No new release was confirmed by the May 2024 report behind this headline. Its API links reportedly returned 404; Rockstar’s official media archive now lists 99 downloadable screenshots and official cover art. As of October 8, 2026, the images are available through Rockstar’s GTA VI media page and artwork page.
Where did the “released soon” claim come from?
A Gizmochina report published May 9, 2024 said a fan-made bot monitoring Rockstar’s API had found four new links that appeared to point to screenshots and possible key art or cover art. Those links returned 404 at the time. The report also cited Rockstar’s social-media cleanup and an upcoming Take-Two earnings call, but it did not point to an official Rockstar announcement promising that images were about to be released. Its “soon” prediction was rumor, not confirmation. Gizmochina’s original report
