The game behind the “female Luffy” headline is Enigma of Sépia, which Apple currently lists in the US App Store as Era of Sepia. Its female cast includes parody counterparts or apparent inspirations from recognizable male anime characters; available sources do not establish that these are officially licensed appearances of Luffy or other characters.
What is Era of Sepia?
Era of Sepia is the current name shown on Apple’s US App Store listing for Enigma of Sépia, a mobile role-playing gacha game developed by Unicorn Whale Technology Limited. The two names refer to the game identified in the sources, rather than to confirmed separate titles. Know Your Meme’s entry, updated February 25, 2025, reports that the game drew attention in early 2025 after introducing “Denise,” a female take on Chainsaw Man‘s Denji.
What does “waifu makeover” mean here?
The phrase describes female characters presented as parody counterparts or apparent inspirations from well-known male anime characters. Know Your Meme characterizes the cast as modeled on famous male anime characters, but that secondary reporting is not evidence of authorization. The sources available here do not confirm that Luffy, Denji, or other named anime characters appear in the game as licensed characters, or that their rights holders approved the designs.
How does the game play?
Apple’s store listing describes a fantasy role-playing game built around collecting heroes, upgrading their ranks, assembling teams, fighting battles, and bonding with characters at a base. Those are features as described in the listing, not independent assessments of the game’s quality or evidence of hands-on testing. The listing categorizes it as a role-playing game and identifies loot boxes among its in-app purchase mechanics. See Era of Sepia on Apple’s US App Store.

Where can you get it?
Apple currently has an iOS listing for Era of Sepia, developed by Unicorn Whale Technology Limited. The US listing observed for this article gives the app a 16+ age rating and says it supports iPhone and iPad; store information can change and may differ by region. Apple labels the download free with in-app purchases, and its listing discloses loot boxes. Paid packs, prices, and availability can vary by storefront, so the US listing should not be treated as a universal price guide.
