Yes. Rainbow Six Siege can issue permanent sanctions, but “ban” can mean more than one thing: Ubisoft’s rules distinguish a permanent ban from online play from permanent revocation of access to the game. A Ubisoft account lock is a separate action that can affect access to other Ubisoft games and services. Check the wording and scope in your sanction notice.
Which Rainbow Six Siege sanctions can be permanent?
Ubisoft’s Player Protection Core Rules list a range of sanctions, from temporary feature restrictions to permanent outcomes. The two permanent Siege outcomes named there are a ban from online play and revocation of access to the game. Ubisoft states: “Permanent sanctions mean exactly what they say, your access is gone, forever.” The exact access affected depends on which sanction the notice describes.
Permanent ban from online play
This bars online play in Siege. Ubisoft lists it separately from permanent revocation of access to the game, so the terms should not be treated as interchangeable.
Permanent revocation of game access
This is a separate, broader Siege sanction: Ubisoft’s rules describe it as permanently revoking access to the game.

How are temporary Siege bans different?
Ubisoft says temporary in-game bans can follow Code of Conduct violations or disconnecting during Ranked mode. A Ranked disconnect can also bring a Renown or Rank penalty, and repeated intentional team kills may lead to account sanctions. Ubisoft does not publish one universal timer covering every temporary ban; duration and outcome depend on the sanction and circumstances.
A temporary Siege ban does not automatically lock you out of all Ubisoft services. Ubisoft says a player under a temporary in-game ban can still access other Ubisoft websites, games, and services. For a temporary ban you believe was issued in error, Ubisoft directs you to contact Ubisoft Support.

Is a Ubisoft account lock the same as a Siege ban?
No. Ubisoft account locks apply at the account level and may be temporary or permanent, depending on the activity’s severity and Ubisoft’s Terms of Use and Code of Conduct. Ubisoft says a locked account cannot access online games or services or Ubisoft website login pages. That is broader than a Siege-specific online-play sanction.
Ubisoft’s locked-account guidance says players who believe a permanent lock was imposed in error can appeal. The appeal page requests the sanctioned account username and the reason for the appeal. Ubisoft also says account holders are responsible for activity on their accounts, sharing credentials violates its Terms of Use, repeated or abusive contacts will not help, and appeals may be ignored after final review. An appeal is not a guarantee that the sanction will be reversed.

What determines the sanction and how long it lasts?
Ubisoft says sanctions depend on the severity, frequency, and intent of the conduct. They may be applied individually or stacked. Its Terms of Use describe case-by-case decisions that can consider seriousness, the number of violations, and their impact, with outcomes ranging from warnings and feature restrictions to short- or long-term suspensions.
Those factors do not amount to a fixed schedule for every offense. The reviewed official guidance does not establish a universal temporary-ban duration chart or promise that a particular first or repeated offense receives a specific term. Use the notice to identify the sanction and its stated duration, if given.

How to respond to a ban or lock
- Read the notice carefully. Identify whether it names a Siege sanction, such as a ban from online play or revocation of game access, or a Ubisoft account lock.
- Use Ubisoft Support if you believe the action was wrong. For a temporary Siege ban, Ubisoft directs players to contact Support. For a permanent account lock, use Ubisoft’s appeal process and provide the sanctioned account username and reason for appeal.
- Keep the appeal focused and accurate. Explain why you believe the sanction is mistaken. Ubisoft says account holders are responsible for their accounts and warns that repeated or abusive contacts will not help.
Ubisoft’s Player Protection hub displays 531,369 accounts banned for the period August 2020 through April 2025. That is a cumulative figure for that stated period, not a current total or an annual ban rate.
