No—not yet. Microsoft has brought some Xbox-published games to PlayStation, but its announcements through July 2026 show a mixed strategy: some titles are planned for PlayStation 5, while others remain Xbox console exclusives. That makes Microsoft’s approach a notable shift in publishing, not proof that console competition is over or that every Xbox game will reach PlayStation.
Which Xbox games are coming to PlayStation?
Microsoft’s announcements name specific games and platforms; they do not establish a blanket release policy. Xbox Wire’s January 22, 2026, Developer Direct recap listed Fable and Kiln for PlayStation 5 and Steam. It also said Forza Horizon 6 would come to PlayStation 5 later in 2026. That is an announced future release, not confirmation in that announcement that the PlayStation version had already launched. Xbox Wire’s Developer Direct recap provides the title-specific details.
In its June 7, 2026, showcase recap, Xbox named Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution as Xbox console exclusives, and said they were not timed exclusives. The same announcement said games previously announced for multiple platforms would remain on those plans. In other words, the company was describing different release plans for different games, not announcing that Xbox exclusivity had ended. See the Xbox Games Showcase 2026 recap.

Are Xbox games still exclusive?
Yes, at least some are. The June 2026 showcase named two Xbox console exclusives, while the January 2026 recap listed other Xbox-published games for PlayStation 5. Those examples establish a title-by-title approach in the public announcements—not a rule that all future games will follow one platform plan.

“Xbox console exclusive” describes the console platforms named in that announcement; it does not, by itself, establish that a game is unavailable on PC. For any particular release, check the game’s current platform listing and its publisher’s announcement rather than assuming “exclusive” means unavailable everywhere outside Xbox.
Why is Microsoft putting some Xbox games on PlayStation?
Microsoft has publicly framed broader availability as a way to let players access its games across devices. A Microsoft Game Dev recap of the 2025 Xbox Games Showcase describes the company’s aim as letting players play Xbox games wherever they are. In a published Microsoft quote sheet, Phil Spencer said the company was committed to making the same version of Call of Duty available on PlayStation on the same day it launched elsewhere. These are company statements about goals and commitments, not evidence of a measured commercial effect.

There is also a platform-building rationale for exclusives. In July 2026, Xbox chief strategy officer Matthew Ball told TechRadar that exclusives were necessary to grow a platform, while saying large live-service games would be multiplatform. He also said, “I can assure you, Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution are not the only titles we’re planning.” That is Ball’s characterization of Xbox’s plans, not a published list of future games or a guarantee of their platforms. What changed since Microsoft’s first cross-platform announcement?
In February 2024, Phil Spencer announced that four Xbox games would leave exclusivity, without identifying them at first. The Associated Press reported that he described two as community-driven and two as smaller titles, and said Starfield and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle were not among them. That was the scope of the announcement at that time, not a full account of Microsoft’s later release plans. The Associated Press report also quoted Spencer forecasting that hardware-exclusive games would become “a smaller and smaller part of the game industry” over the next five or ten years. That was a prediction, not a measured outcome.

By 2026, Xbox’s public announcements included PlayStation availability for named games as well as named Xbox console exclusives. The record therefore points to a more flexible publishing strategy than a simple “Xbox games stay on Xbox” rule, but it does not show that Microsoft has adopted one permanent policy for every title.

No. Releasing selected games on a competing console changes where those games can be played; it does not, by itself, end competition between platform companies. Microsoft’s own announcements still identify games as Xbox console exclusives, and its stated platform rationale includes giving players a reason to choose Xbox. The available statements do not establish whether the multiplatform approach has increased sales, player reach, subscriptions, or hardware demand. Without attributable outcome figures, those effects should not be treated as settled.

The clearest way to judge what happens next is to look at each game’s announced platforms and release timing. A PlayStation version announced for a later date is different from a same-day release, and either is different from an Xbox console exclusive. Microsoft’s releases may set a precedent for selective multiplatform publishing, but the announcements through July 2026 support a mixed approach—not the end of console competition.
