If avoiding a separate accessory matters more than cable-free play, a wired unit is the simpler starting point.
You already own the wireless controller
For wireless PC use, the same Microsoft-hosted Q&A guidance calls for an Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows. Factor in the receiver as part of the purchase, and verify that the item is specifically intended for Xbox 360 wireless accessories. The available information does not establish current receiver stock, the authenticity of individual listings, or compatibility for every third-party receiver.

What the original hardware offers—and what to check
Microsoft’s Xbox 360 Wireless Controller manual describes 2.4-GHz wireless operation, a headset port, adjustable vibration, and a stated range of 30 feet. Treat that range as a legacy manufacturer specification, not a current comparative test. The manual also says up to four wired and wireless controllers can be actively connected to one Xbox 360 console.
For a used purchase, check the listing’s exact model and photos, whether it is wired or wireless, and the stated condition. For a wireless controller intended for PC, include the dedicated receiver in your total cost. Current prices, availability, and the condition of specific used units are not established.

Modern controllers that keep the familiar shape
Hyperkin Xenon: the 360-style choice for newer Xbox systems
Xbox describes the Xenon as an officially Xbox-licensed recreation of the Xbox 360 Controller. It is listed for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows 10/11. Its listed features include precision analog triggers, vibration, a Share button, a 3.5 mm headset jack, and a detachable 10-foot Type-C cable. It is wired, and Xbox’s product page does not list Xbox 360 console compatibility; buy it for the newer platforms it names, not as a replacement for an original 360 controller.
Current Xbox Wireless Controller: broader listed device support
Microsoft lists the current Xbox Wireless Controller for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows 10/11, Android, and iOS, with Xbox Wireless and Bluetooth connectivity. It is a more flexible fit if mobile or Bluetooth use matters more than reproducing the older shape. Its listed compatibility does not include Xbox 360.

How to choose without confusing generations
- Identify the target system. For Xbox 360, choose an Xbox 360 controller. For Xbox One or Series X|S with the old shape, consider the Xenon. For broader listed device support, compare the current Xbox Wireless Controller.
- Choose the connection. A wired 360 controller uses USB for the PC connection described in Microsoft-hosted community guidance. A wireless 360 controller used on PC requires the dedicated receiver described there.
