Yes, the official notes for Pokémon Legends: Z-A Version 1.0.2 do not list any change to shiny Pokémon or shiny-hunting mechanics, and Nintendo says save data remains available after an update. That is reassuring, but it does not establish that every shiny method or exploit was tested and left unchanged. Version 1.0.2 was released on November 5, 2025; Nintendo’s update page now lists Version 2.0.2, released March 18, 2026, as the latest version.
What Nintendo’s Version 1.0.2 notes say about shiny Pokémon
Nintendo’s official Pokémon Legends: Z-A update history does not mention shiny Pokémon or shiny-hunting mechanics in its Version 1.0.2 notes. The notes therefore provide no indication that the update changed shiny encounters, but silence in a patch list is not confirmation that every method or exploit was tested.
Nintendo separately states: “Save data will still be available for use after downloading the update.” That addresses the availability of save data after updating; it is not a specific guarantee about the status of an individual Pokémon or the behavior of a particular shiny-hunting technique.

- Your journey will take you to all manner of sights in the streets arrayed around Prism Tower, including shops, restaurants, and places called wild zones—where Pokémon roam free.
- As you catch, train, and battle Pokémon, there will be plenty of people to meet too—like AZ, the enigmatic owner of Hotel Z.
- A capture issue could cause every catch attempt to fail if the Pokémon Boxes were full before the first Rogue Mega Evolution battle and the Boxes menu had not previously been opened.
- Certain side missions could fail to progress as intended.
- A Trainer battle could become stuck when the opponent switched Pokémon at the same time the player Mega Evolved a Pokémon.
- Nintendo also listed “other minor issues.”
- Ranked Battle adjustments were intended to prevent points from being reduced based on battle results. Nintendo also partially increased battle rewards and added additional post-battle rewards.
These are the changes Nintendo chose to identify in the 1.0.2 notes; none names shiny Pokémon or shiny hunting.
Version 1.0.2 is no longer the latest update
Nintendo’s update history lists Version 2.0.2, released March 18, 2026, as the latest version at the time of the page’s current listing. Version 1.0.2 is a past release, so check Nintendo’s update history for the version currently listed before updating or troubleshooting.
