Is ARK: Ultimate Mobile Edition free on mobile?
Yes. In its December 18, 2024 launch announcement, ARK’s community team said the game was available to download on Android and iOS and described mobile as free-to-play. The current Google Play and US App Store listings also label it free, with in-app purchases. Free-to-play does not mean every purchase or in-game item is free.
Which maps and expansions are listed for mobile?
The current Google Play description names the Island and five expansion packs:
- Scorched Earth
- Aberration
- Extinction
- Genesis Part 1
- Genesis Part 2
The launch announcement spoke broadly about bringing the franchise’s expansion packs to mobile. The current listing does not support describing the game as having only two expansions. “Two” could refer to the two Genesis parts, but the official materials do not confirm that this was the original headline’s intended meaning.

How much space does ARK: Ultimate Mobile Edition need?
Both the Google Play and US App Store listings say the game prompts players to download an additional 2 GB of data after launch. That is extra data beyond the initial store download, so leave room for it before installing. The listings do not establish a single total storage requirement; the initial download size and device requirements can vary by store, device, and region. Check your local store listing for current details.
Is the mobile edition the same as ARK: Ultimate Survivor Edition?
No. They are distinct products. ARK: Ultimate Mobile Edition is the free-to-play Android and iOS game. Nintendo’s US listing for ARK: Ultimate Survivor Edition describes a Nintendo Switch bundle with the base game and Scorched Earth, Aberration, Extinction, Genesis Part 1, and Genesis Part 2. The Switch listing establishes the bundle’s contents, not the mobile edition’s pricing or storage requirements.
How many people have downloaded the mobile edition?
Snail Inc.’s 2026 SEC-filed annual report says ARK: Ultimate Mobile Edition surpassed 10 million downloads in 2025. That is a company-reported download count; it does not establish the number of active players, unique players, or current installs.

The December 2024 announcement said the game was downloadable through Apple’s App Store and Google Play. It also said a release on the Epic Games Store was planned for 2025, but the sources cited here do not verify whether that release happened or establish current regional availability there.
