No official Steam Deck-specific fix for Arknights: Endfield crashes is confirmed by the available guidance. Work through SteamOS updates, compatibility settings, and the game’s general crash checks; if the problem continues, send the publisher the details it needs to investigate. These steps may help narrow down the cause, but none is a guaranteed fix.
Start with Steam Deck updates and a clean restart
- Install SteamOS updates: Open the Deck’s Settings and check for available system updates, install them, then restart the device. Valve recommends updating and restarting when troubleshooting Steam Deck instability. See Valve’s Steam Deck software troubleshooting guide.
- Temporarily close third-party apps: If you installed applications through Desktop Mode, exit or disable them and restart the Deck. If Endfield still crashes, continue to the compatibility checks below.
- Restart the game after a crash: Force quit Endfield before launching it again. If the Deck itself appears unstable, restart the device too.
Check Endfield’s current Steam compatibility information
Look at the game’s current compatibility details in its Steam Library entry or Store page. Valve’s categories are Verified, Playable, Unsupported, and Unknown. Valve’s compatibility criteria explain what these labels mean; Unknown means Valve has not tested the title. Compatibility reviews can change, so check the current listing rather than relying on an older report.
A Steam compatibility label applies to the Steam version and is not proof that a separate launcher or sideloaded installation will behave the same way. The available sources do not establish Endfield’s current rating, so verify it directly in Steam.
Try a different compatibility tool only if you use the Steam app
For a Steam-installed game, Valve’s general guidance allows you to try a different Steam Play compatibility tool. In the Library, open Endfield’s Properties > Compatibility, enable the option to force a specific compatibility tool, and select the latest Proton version available. You can also try lowering the game’s graphics settings if reducing the load helps.

These are general Steam Deck troubleshooting suggestions, not an Endfield-specific, tested solution. Community reports describe different outcomes with Proton versions and launch methods, so do not assume one version works for every game build or installation. Note your existing setting before changing it so you can restore it if the result is worse.

Make the report easier to diagnose by noting whether you launch through Steam or a non-Steam launcher, when the crash occurs (launch, login, gameplay, or later), and which SteamOS and Proton versions you used. Change one setting at a time where possible, and record whether the crash still occurs afterward.

Community posts describe varied experiences involving crashes, freezes, controller input, and Proton choices. A ValveSoftware/Proton issue is open and concerns a game not expected to work without issues; its description discusses investigating Proton changes for a game run outside the Steam version. Other reports cover different launch paths and configurations, including an Endfield Steam Deck discussion, a non-Steam launch crash, and a Proton-GE report.

- Valve is entering the gaming console marketplace with the new Steam Deck, a console geared towards PC gamers. The Steam Deck can be docked to a monitor, and used as a PC, or docked to a TV.
- Players can play a huge variety of games at any time with the comfort of a console and the freedom of a PC. Not anti-glare screen.
- Like the name suggests, the Steam Deck will include upgraded 1TB storage, and will include a carrying case. A micro SD slot will also enable expanded storage.
- Valve partnered with AMD to create a specialized APU optimized for handheld gaming, and Valve says the chip will deliver performance to run AAA gaming titles.
- The Steam Deck is outfitted with a 7-inch touchscreen, and two trackpads under the control sticks that allow gamers to operate games never designed outside of mouse and keyboard capabilities.
Those accounts do not establish a reliable fix for all Deck users. Results can differ by game build, launch method, SteamOS version, Proton version, and the point at which the crash occurs. The official announcement also said the Steam version was still being optimized, so a workaround reported for one setup may not carry over to another.
