Protocol Stash stores items and, when connected to a sufficiently powered grid, transfers them to your Depot. It is a logistics tool—not a resource generator or a way to expand your Backpack.
Field Stash and Protocol Stash are different things
In Arknights: Endfield, Field Stash refers to a research node in the AIC Exploration tree. Game8 describes it as a Basic II node that unlocks the Protocol Stash facility. Protocol Stash is the placeable building used for storage and powered item transfer.
Some guides use “Field Stash” loosely when discussing the facility or the general stash function. When following an unlock or building instruction, check whether it means the research node or Protocol Stash itself.
How to unlock and use Protocol Stash
- Open the AIC research plan. Find Field Stash in the Exploration tree when it becomes available. Game8 reports it as a Basic II node costing one Index Point, but check the current in-game plan for the tier, availability, and cost in your version.
- Build Protocol Stash. Place the facility in an AIC area where storage and transfers will be useful—for example, near a remote gathering area or a production location you revisit often. This is a practical placement suggestion, not a stated game requirement.
- Connect it to power. Link the facility to an active grid and make sure the region has enough power. The documented transfer function depends on power.
- Put the relevant items in the stash. Protocol Stash has storage slots; it does not produce the items it holds.
- Check your Depot. With the stash powered, its items can be transferred to the Depot. The available sources do not establish a dependable current transfer interval, so do not rely on a particular wait time.
How Protocol Stash differs from Backpack and Depot access
| Option | What it is for | Where items are accessed | Power needed? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Backpack | Carried inventory while moving through the world. | On your character. | No automated Depot transfer is established for the Backpack. |
| Depot | A separate storage system for deposited items. | The community Endfield Talos Wiki lists TP-Points, Core AIC Areas, the Dijiang, and Easy Stash as access points. | Power is not stated as a general requirement for accessing the Depot. |
| Protocol Stash | A facility for holding items and routing them to the Depot. | Items transfer to the Depot when the facility is connected to a sufficiently powered grid. | Yes, for the transfer behavior described by the sources. |
The Backpack and Depot are not the same inventory. Protocol Stash supports AIC logistics by moving items into Depot storage; it should not be treated as extra Backpack capacity. Backpack slot and stack limits can change between versions, so consult the current game for those details.

What to check if items do not reach the Depot
- Check the power connection. Confirm that Protocol Stash is connected to an active grid, rather than merely placed nearby.
- Check available regional power. A connected facility may still lack enough power for the documented transfer behavior.
- Check the facility and Depot interfaces. Verify what is stored in Protocol Stash and which Depot you are checking.
- Allow for patch-sensitive behavior. The sources establish powered transfer but not a reliable current interval; avoid assuming a specific delivery schedule.
These checks follow from the documented power condition and storage roles; they are not a guarantee that every missing-item case has the same cause.

Game8’s guide reports the node’s tier and cost, while the Endfield Talos Wiki describes Protocol Stash’s storage and transfer role. These are secondary or community-maintained references, not a live official manual. Gryphline’s May 23, 2026 developer communication discusses AIC updates generally, but does not confirm current Field Stash costs or transfer timing. Use the AIC plan and facility interface in your current game as the authority for exact unlock requirements and patch-specific behavior.
