It grants a spinning-kick skill to compatible infusable hand-to-hand weapons. The expansion requires the Elden Ring base game.
Where to find Dryleaf Whirlwind
Game8’s walkthrough places the Ash of War northeast of the Rauh Ancient Ruins, East Site of Grace. Use that named Site of Grace as your navigation landmark; this is a third-party walkthrough location, not an official map pin. See Game8’s Dryleaf Whirlwind location guide (updated August 5, 2024).
What Dryleaf Whirlwind does
The skill launches a series of spinning kicks that rise into the air and finish with a descending strike. The community-maintained Elden Ring Wiki.gg database lists a cost of 9 FP and 40 stamina for the full sequence. These are database values, not official publisher specifications, and detailed mechanics may change with patches. View the Dryleaf Whirlwind entry on Elden Ring Wiki.gg.
Which weapons can use it?
Dryleaf Whirlwind is listed for infusable hand-to-hand weapons. Compatibility depends on the specific weapon, so check the Ash of War menu rather than assuming it applies to every weapon in that category. Bandai Namco explains that each Ash of War specifies eligible weapon types; after finding the Whetstone Knife, you can equip Ashes of War at a Site of Grace. Read Bandai Namco’s combat basics guide.

Yes. Dryleaf Whirlwind is a Shadow of the Erdtree skill, and the official Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree page states: “Shadow Of The Erdtree requires ELDEN RING base game to play.” If you already own the base game, you need the expansion; if you own neither, look for an edition that includes both. Check the current listing for your platform to confirm what it contains.
