A base name alone does not establish which weapon is best. Compare the attributes and mechanics that matter to your character and chosen skill:
- Progression and requirements: Check the required level and Dexterity/Intelligence requirements against your character.
- Weapon output: Compare the base damage range, attacks per second and critical strike chance. These influence attacks unless a particular skill says otherwise.
- Reach: Look for weapon range or an explicit property such as the Long Quarterstaff’s listed increased Melee Strike Range.
- Build-specific properties: Consider an inherent stat only when it benefits your selected skill or mechanic.
- Skill compatibility: Confirm the current skill gem’s weapon requirement; “quarterstaff” is not the only possible eligible weapon class for every martial skill.
There is no established universal best base for every build. Base preferences depend on the skill, character requirements and current patch. The unofficial PoE 2 Ref base-item reference describes item classes, requirements and base stats, but its fan-made status makes the live game the final check.
Why this is not a complete list
The available references do not establish a complete, current inventory of all normal and unique quarterstaves as of October 8, 2026. PoE2DB search results asserted that its class page had 38 quarterstaff entries, but the page was not opened and the count’s version basis is unknown. It should not be treated as a definitive total.
