“artpclnt.dll was not found” means Windows could not load a DLL that an installed game or application expects. The artpclnt.dll file is associated with Pocket Soft’s RTPatch update technology, not with Windows itself.
Do not download a replacement DLL into System32. The reliable fix is to repair the program that owns the file, because the correct version must match that program’s patcher and release.

Which fix applies to you
Use the path that matches the error:
- The file is missing after an update: run the application’s repair or update function, or verify the game files through Steam.
- The message says “wrong version”: let the program’s own patcher replace
artpclnt.dll. Do not copy a file from another release. - The file disappeared suddenly: check Windows Security Protection History for quarantine or removal.
- The program still fails after repair: perform a clean reinstall from the official publisher or store.
- Several unrelated programs are failing: repair Windows components with DISM and SFC.
- The error also names
VCRUNTIME140.dllorMSVCP*.dll: install the Microsoft Visual C++ package matching the application’s architecture. - You recently installed a mod, overlay, driver, or security product: temporarily remove or review that change before troubleshooting further.
The strongest public association for this filename is Metin2, where artpclnt.dll appears as a game-file dependency. Other applications may also embed RTPatch, so the filename alone cannot identify the owning program.
What artpclnt.dll does
RTPatch is binary-patching software. Its target-side update component is embedded into an application so that the application can receive and apply updates. That makes artpclnt.dll an application file, not a Windows system DLL and not a Microsoft Visual C++ runtime.

Public Metin2 file metadata points to a 32-bit DLL of approximately 108 KiB. A 32-bit application on 64-bit Windows normally loads its 32-bit DLL from the application’s own folder. A 64-bit replacement cannot satisfy a 32-bit loader.
This is why copying a random file into C:WindowsSystem32 usually makes the situation worse. The game may still need a particular build beside its executable, and Windows may continue loading the wrong file or reporting a version mismatch.
Fix 1: Repair the game or application first
This is the most likely solution for a missing, corrupt, or wrong-version error.

- Close the game or application.
- Open its official launcher from the Start menu or desktop.
- Look for a button named Repair, Scan, Check files, Verify, Update, or Reinstall.
- Start the repair or update process.
- Allow the launcher to finish downloading and replacing files.
- Restart Windows if the launcher requests it.
- Start the program normally.
A successful repair should restore artpclnt.dll beside the program’s executable and remove the missing-file or wrong-version message. If the launcher reports that files are still damaged, repeat the repair once after restarting Windows. If it fails again, continue with the antivirus check and clean reinstall below.
If the launcher only works with elevated permissions, right-click it, select Properties, open the Compatibility tab, select Run this program as an administrator, choose Apply, and try the repair again. Do not permanently run every game as administrator unless its documentation requires it.
Verify a Steam installation
For a Steam game:
- Open Steam.
- Select Library.
- Right-click the affected game.
- Choose Properties.
- Select Installed Files.
- Click Verify integrity of game files.
- Wait for Steam to complete the scan.
- Launch the game again.
Steam will reacquire missing or changed files when its verification process identifies a problem. If verification repeatedly replaces artpclnt.dll, something may be removing or modifying it. Check Protection History, disable unauthorized mods, and inspect overlays or third-party launchers before verifying again.

Fix 2: Check Windows Security quarantine
Antivirus software can remove a DLL if it detects suspicious behavior, an altered file, or a false positive. Do not restore the file solely because its name looks familiar. First confirm that the affected program came from its official publisher or store.
- Open Start and search for Windows Security.
- Open Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Review recent detections.
- Expand any detection that mentions the game, launcher, installation folder, or
artpclnt.dll. - Read the detection name and file path.
- If the application is trusted and the file came from its official installation, use Actions and select Restore or Allow on device, if available.
- Run the official launcher repair or Steam verification again.
If you are uncertain about the detection, leave the file quarantined and reinstall the complete program from its official source instead. Microsoft warns that allowing a genuine threat can put the device at risk.
After restoring or reinstalling, run a full scan:
- Open Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Choose Scan options.
- Select Full scan.
- Click Scan now.
If the file keeps disappearing, use Microsoft Defender Offline scan from the same Scan options page. Persistent removal can indicate malware, an unauthorized modification, or a security product that does not trust the installed program.
Fix 3: Reinstall the complete application
A clean reinstall is the correct fix when the launcher cannot repair the file or the installation is incomplete.
- Back up game saves, configuration files, screenshots, or other personal data stored in the application folder.
- Open Settings.
- Select Apps.
- Choose Installed apps on Windows 11, or Apps & features on Windows 10.
- Find the affected game or application.
- Select its three-dot menu or entry, then choose Uninstall.
- Restart Windows.
- Download the installer from the official publisher, launcher, or store.
- Install the program to its normal location.
- Run its updater before launching it.
For a Steam game, uninstall it from the game’s Manage menu, reinstall it from the Steam Library, then run Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity of game files.

Fix 4: Repair related Microsoft runtimes only when named
artpclnt.dll is not itself a Microsoft Visual C++ runtime. Installing Visual C++ is not the primary repair for this file.
Use Microsoft’s current Visual C++ Redistributable packages only if the error also names a runtime such as VCRUNTIME140.dll or MSVCP*.dll.
- Open Microsoft’s official Latest Supported Visual C++ Redistributable Downloads page.
- Download the package matching the application.
- Use x86 for a 32-bit game or application, even on 64-bit Windows.
- Use x64 for a native 64-bit application.
- Run the installer.
- Choose Repair if that option appears.
- Restart Windows.
- Launch the application again.
Older Visual C++ redistributables may remain installed side by side. Do not remove older packages simply because a newer package is present unless the application’s documentation specifically instructs you to do so.
Fix 5: Repair Windows components for wider system problems
DISM and SFC repair protected Windows components and system files. They normally do not recreate a third-party DLL stored in a game folder, so use them after repairing the application rather than instead of it.
- Open Start.
- Search for Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Approve the User Account Control prompt.
- Run this command:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
- Wait for DISM to finish.
- Run:
sfc /scannow
- Wait until verification reaches 100 percent.
- Restart Windows.
- Run the application’s repair tool or Steam verification again.
If SFC reports that it repaired files, test the application after restarting. If it reports that some files could not be repaired, run DISM once more, then run SFC again. If only this one game reports artpclnt.dll, Windows component repair is unlikely to be the main solution.

Fix 6: Check drivers and recent hardware changes
A graphics or storage driver usually does not directly provide artpclnt.dll, but driver problems can cause launch failures, corrupted downloads, crashes, or broader application instability.

Check Device Manager:
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters, Storage controllers, and Disk drives.
- Look for a yellow warning icon.
- Right-click the affected device.
- Select Properties.
- Open the General tab and read the device status.
- Open the Driver tab.
- Choose Update Driver and then Search automatically for drivers.
- Restart Windows if a driver is installed.
For graphics hardware, prefer the official GPU manufacturer’s driver package when Windows does not find a suitable update. If the problem began immediately after a driver update, open the device’s Driver tab and select Roll Back Driver, if available.
Finding the correct driver manually means comparing hardware IDs, package versions, and device models. Do not use Windows Features for this DLL
Windows Features does not install RTPatch or restore artpclnt.dll.
You can confirm this without changing anything:
- Open Control Panel.
- Select Programs.
- Choose Turn Windows features on or off.
- Review the available components.
- Leave them unchanged unless a separate application specifically requires one.
Enabling legacy components at random will not supply the correct application-specific DLL. It can also introduce compatibility or security issues unrelated to the original error.

Do not copy the DLL or run regsvr32
Avoid DLL download sites and isolated file repositories. A downloaded replacement may contain malware, have the wrong architecture, belong to another release, or leave the underlying installation damaged. There is no universally correct “latest” artpclnt.dll for every application.
Do not copy the file into:
C:WindowsSystem32C:WindowsSysWOW64- another game’s installation folder
The correct location is normally beside the executable of the program that installed it.
Do not run:
regsvr32 artpclnt.dll
A .dll extension does not mean that a file needs COM registration. regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that expose registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer. An RTPatch support DLL is not shown to require that process. Registration will not repair a missing, corrupt, or wrong-version application file.

If the error returns after every repair
A repeated failure usually means the file is being removed or changed after installation.

- Protection History: look for repeated quarantine events.
- Mods and overlays: remove unofficial patches, injectors, reshade tools, and overlays temporarily.
- Launcher logs: look for download, permission, or patch-version errors.
- Installation permissions: install to a location where the launcher can write files.
- Disk health: investigate storage errors if other files are also becoming corrupt.
- Malware: run a full scan, followed by Defender Offline if suspicious behavior continues.
- System Restore: if the problem began after a broader system change, open Start, search Recovery, select Open System Restore, choose a suitable restore point, and follow the wizard.
If reinstalling from the official source still produces a wrong-version message, contact the application publisher with the exact error, program version, installation path, and launcher log. The filename by itself is not enough to identify the failing release.
