Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced—the official remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag—released on July 9, 2026. Ubisoft lists it for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The release date is no longer a rumor; earlier release-window predictions are now historical.
When did the Black Flag remake come out?
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced launched on July 9, 2026. Ubisoft describes it as a ground-up remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, rebuilt on the latest Anvil Engine. The date and title are confirmed by Ubisoft’s official game page and its launch guide.
That official launch supersedes the speculation and release-window rumors that circulated before the announcement. Rumor coverage should be treated as historical rather than as the current status of the game.
Is Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced released?
Yes. It is released and available to buy. Ubisoft’s PC listing is on the Ubisoft Store; Ubisoft also lists Steam and Epic Games Store as PC storefronts. Ubisoft says the PC game is Steam Deck verified.

What changed in Black Flag Resynced?
Ubisoft presents Resynced as a remake rather than a simple visual remaster. Its published feature descriptions include updated visuals, ray-traced lighting, micropolygon rendering, dynamic weather, smoother transitions into major cities, new story arcs and missions, and quality-of-life updates to stealth, combat, and tailing. Ubisoft’s launch guide also describes new naval features and parkour adjustments. These are the publisher’s descriptions of the game, not independent performance or gameplay test results.

The original’s identity remains central
Creative director Paul Fu told GamesRadar, “It’s definitely an old-school, classic Assassin’s Creed.” He added: “Right from the beginning, we made notes of every single part of the original Black Flag to decide what we should and should not change. And most of it doesn’t change. We simply added onto it.” The comments are from GamesRadar’s interview with Fu.
What “rebuilt” means for the code
In a TechRadar interview report, Fu said there was “probably almost nothing” left of the original code and described taking apart and rebuilding the fight system. That is an attributed developer account, not an independent audit of the game’s code.
