Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is no longer a rumor: the publisher revealed the remake in April 2026 and released it on July 9, 2026. The February claim that it was “not too far off” came from an insider comment reported by GamingBolt—not from Ubisoft—and was a vague timing hint, not a promised date.
What did the February insider report say?
On February 9, 2026, GamingBolt reported that industry insider Shinobi602 had said the remake would not appear at the anticipated PlayStation State of Play. The report quoted the comment: “Wouldn’t say they’re ‘holding it back’. There’s a reveal and release set, it’s just not time yet. Not too far off.” GamingBolt’s report is a secondary account of a ResetEra post; the original post was not directly verified in the cited material.

That distinction matters: Ubisoft had not publicly confirmed the game or a State of Play appearance when the comment was reported. “Not too far off” did not specify a date, and it should not be read as an official Ubisoft schedule.
What happened after the report?
In hindsight, the reveal followed the February report by about three weeks. Ubisoft announced a dedicated showcase for April 23, 2026, and subsequently introduced the project as Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. The publisher’s game page describes it as a ground-up remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, rebuilt using the latest version of the Anvil Engine.
