The SQC-19 Stun Lance was announced as Helldivers 2’s first melee secondary weapon in the Urban Legends Premium Warbond on December 13, 2024. It was not announced as a separate Illuminate DLC. Arrowhead later released distinct Illuminate-focused updates, including new enemies in its June 2026 patch notes, so the weapon and those later additions belong to different dated developments.
What is the new melee weapon in Helldivers 2?
The SQC-19 Stun Lance is the weapon named in Arrowhead’s December 13, 2024 Urban Legends Premium Warbond announcement. The announcement called it the game’s “first melee secondary weapon” and said it has extra range for close-quarters fighting.

Arrowhead also described pairing the Lance with the SH-51 Directional Shield stratagem. That establishes the intended combination, not a tested claim that it outperforms other loadouts. The announcement does not provide damage figures or comparative performance results.
Was the Stun Lance released with an Illuminate DLC?
No standalone Illuminate DLC is established by the cited announcements. The Stun Lance appeared in the Urban Legends Premium Warbond, which Arrowhead announced as available “starting now” on December 13, 2024. The announcement framed the Warbond around fighting in colonies and narrow streets, and mentioned the return of Illuminate forces, including Harvesters and Voteless. That shared setting does not make the Lance a separate Illuminate DLC item.

The distinction matters because Helldivers 2 content described as a Warbond, a game update, or a DLC is not interchangeable. Here, the source names a Premium Warbond; it does not establish the Warbond’s current price or unlock process.
What did later Illuminate updates add?
June 2026: new enemies and melee balance work
Arrowhead’s Patch 01.003.000 notes, dated June 4, 2026, list new Illuminate enemies: the Stingray, Crescent Overseer, and Fleshmob. The notes also identify “Melee weapons stamina cost” as a balance area. They do not say this patch introduced the SQC-19 Stun Lance.

August 2026: Devoid of Liberty
In an August 12, 2026 Xbox Wire article, Arrowhead Community Manager Mitch Ayre described Devoid of Liberty as an Illuminate-focused update, with the front expanding and new interactions involving SEAF squads. Xbox Wire reported that the update was out on Xbox at no additional cost as of that article.
September 2026: follow-up notes
Arrowhead’s September 2026 Devoid of Liberty 7.0.0 notes mention the Castellan’s Creed Legendary Warbond and later Illuminate enemy changes and fixes, including Veracitor. These notes document subsequent content and adjustments, not the original Stun Lance announcement.

How should you interpret the headline?
The headline combines a 2024 Warbond announcement with later Illuminate content. The clearest timeline is:
- December 13, 2024: Arrowhead announced the SQC-19 Stun Lance as the first melee secondary weapon in the Urban Legends Premium Warbond, alongside an urban-combat setting connected to the returning Illuminate.
- June 4, 2026: Patch 01.003.000 listed three new Illuminate enemies and melee stamina-cost balance changes.
- August–September 2026: Arrowhead and Xbox Wire described Devoid of Liberty and its subsequent notes as further Illuminate-focused content.
For access, PlayStation’s Helldivers 2 update page lists availability for owners on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S, as well as PlayStation Plus subscribers; it also says internet access and a paid console subscription are required for gameplay.
