The Assassin’s Creed Hidden Blade is a fictional, forearm-mounted weapon that changes design from game to game. In Ubisoft’s series lore, its earliest version is linked to the Assassin’s missing ring finger; later designs remove that requirement. Ubisoft suggests the concept may have drawn inspiration from accounts of Assassins hiding knives in sleeves, but the sources do not establish the game’s device as a real historical weapon.

What is the Assassin’s Creed Hidden Blade?

Ubisoft describes the Hidden Blade as a spring-loaded knife attached to a leather or metal bracer and worn on the underside of the forearm. It became a signature Assassin’s Creed device after appearing in the first game’s 2007 CG trailer. Its exact form and fictional functions vary across the series; it is not one fixed mechanism. Ubisoft’s retrospective on the Hidden Blade’s evolution traces those changes.

Why do some Assassins have a missing ring finger?

In the original game’s fiction, Altaïr’s blade is activated by a ring attached to a cord. When extended, the blade passes between the middle and little fingers, which explains why the early design is associated with a missing left ring finger. The detail is fictional lore, not evidence that historical Assassins followed this practice.

Ezio’s later design replaces the ring-and-cord activation with a pressure switch. It no longer requires the user to lose a finger, so the missing-finger association does not apply to every Assassin or every Hidden Blade.

How does the Hidden Blade change across the games?

The series uses the Hidden Blade as a platform for different fictional designs and gameplay roles. Ubisoft’s account describes a progression that includes:

  • Assassin’s Creed II and later Ezio games: pressure-switch activation, paired blades and additional gadgets; Revelations adds a Hookblade.
  • Assassin’s Creed III and Liberation: Connor and Aveline use a Pivot Blade that turns 90 degrees.
  • Assassin’s Creed Unity: Arno’s Phantom Blade unfolds as a wrist-mounted launcher that projects the blade.
  • Assassin’s Creed Syndicate: the gauntlet design is paired with gadgets.
  • Assassin’s Creed Origins: Bayek’s design returns to a basic forward-sliding blade.
  • Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Eivor’s blade sits on the outside of the forearm.
  • Assassin’s Creed Mirage: the design returns to a more traditional assassination tool.
  • Assassin’s Creed Shadows: Naoe’s design brings back the Pivot Blade.

Across the games, the device’s roles include stealth takedowns, combat counters, climbing and projectile attacks. Those are game mechanics, not demonstrations of real-world function.

  • AUTHENTIC 1:1 SCALE: Recreated at true 1:1 scale with intricate details inspired by pirate-era aesthetics. The matte retro black coating delivers an authentic metallic texture — a genuine-looking piece from a fantasy historical world, not a toy.

  • SMOOTH ONE-MOTION DEPLOYMENT: A precision-tuned sliding track lets the blade extend and retract with a single flick of the wrist. If the tension string loosens over time, it can be re-secured in minutes — see the quick-fix guide in our images.
  • FITS MOST FOREARMS: Adjustable nylon straps with a secure buckle fit most adult and teen wrist sizes. Extended length 15.35 in, retracted casing 9 in, blade 7 in — comfortable for all-day wear at conventions.
  • COSTUME PROP ONLY — BLUNT SAFE BLADE: Designed exclusively for cosplay, Halloween and display. The blade is made of blunt safety material with no sharp edges and no cutting function.

Is the Hidden Blade real or historical?

The Hidden Blade as depicted in Assassin’s Creed is fictional. Ubisoft suggests it may have been inspired by historical accounts of Assassins concealing knives in their sleeves, but does not establish a specific historical prototype for the game device. It would be inaccurate to describe the series’ spring-loaded bracer as a verified historical weapon.

When comparing replicas, check the character and version, scale, materials, whether the blade is fixed or deployable, safety features, adjustability, what the gauntlet includes, and whether the item suits display or cosplay. The cited product information does not provide independent safety testing or a like-for-like comparison of brands. A wearable prop should be treated as a collectible or costume item, not as a practical weapon.

Hidden Metal Blade 1:1 Scale Prop Replica Retractable Halloween Accessory
  • Metal Blade + 3D Printed ABS Body (Hybrid Build) - The blade itself is solid metal with a realistic sheen; the housing is upgraded ABS, precision 3D printed for a clean fit. The result is a prop that has weight where it should and stays light enough for all-day wear.
  • True 1:1 Scale, 15.35 Inches Extended - Full length measures 15.35 in with the blade out (7.48 in blade section), matching the on-screen proportions fans expect. Intricate engravings and the gear-style base make it a display-shelf piece as much as a costume accessory - it looks the part up close.
  • Smooth Telescopic Action, Convention-Safe Profile - Slide or flick and the blade extends with one fluid motion, then retracts flush into a flat, full silhouette. The flat profile passes most convention prop checks - reviewers confirm wearing it all day without issues.
  • Adjustable Nylon Wrist Strap - Wrap the strap around your forearm and buckle it snug; it adjusts to fit most adult and teen arms. Ergonomic curve keeps the base seated on your forearm through cosplay shoots, stage performances and long convention days.
  • SAFETY NOTICE - Display & Cosplay Prop Only - This is NOT a functional weapon: the blade is blunt with no sharpened edges, for costume wear and display use only. Recommended for ages 14+.
