Ubisoft describes Basim as a “glass cannon”—capable of dealing damage but poorly suited to taking it—so treat open combat as a fallback, not a way to absorb repeated hits. These tips focus on the game’s documented systems; exact controls can vary by platform and settings.
Scout the area before moving in
1. Send Enkidu ahead
Use Enkidu to survey a guarded area and tag enemies where possible. Knowing where guards are positioned makes it easier to choose an approach and avoid walking into an occupied sightline. Ubisoft describes Enkidu as a scouting aid in its June 12, 2023 overview of stealth tools and abilities.

2. Check with Eagle Vision
Use Eagle Vision to reveal enemies and points of interest through walls. It complements a visual survey: check rooms, routes, and nearby threats before committing to a path. Ubisoft’s October 3, 2023 accessibility spotlight describes how Eagle Vision and Enkidu support awareness.
3. Watch how guards respond
Pay attention to suspicion, detection, and searching cues rather than relying on a single signal. The game communicates awareness through multiple forms of feedback, not color alone; use the indicators and directional feedback to judge whether a guard has noticed something and whether it is time to move or break contact.

4. Read the aiming reticle before using a tool
Crosshair shape and size can signal whether the object under aim is a civilian, an invalid target, or a target that the selected tool can damage. Check that feedback before firing or throwing. It can prevent wasting a tool or harming someone who is not a valid target.
Shape the encounter with tools
5. Choose a tool for the job
Blowdarts, throwing knives, and traps are among the tools Ubisoft identifies as customizable and upgradeable. Think in terms of the result you need—quiet removal, distraction, incapacitation, concealment, or disruption—rather than assuming one tool is best in every situation. Smoke bombs and noisemakers are also documented in the game’s later update material.

6. Quick-select when the moment is short
Ubisoft documents quick selection of certain tools from the aiming interface, avoiding a trip through the tool wheel. When an opening is brief, use that shortcut if it is available in your setup; check your current control preset and platform-specific prompts for the exact input.
7. Upgrade with the effect you actually want
Several distinctive effects are level-three upgrades, not default tool behavior. Ubisoft’s November 5, 2025 feature overview and Title Update 1.1.0 release notes document these level-three effects:

| Tool | Documented level-three effect | Useful when you want to… |
|---|---|---|
| Throwing knives | Explosive | Disrupt a group or an area |
| Smoke bombs | Corrosive; dissolve dead enemies | Disrupt enemies and remove bodies |
| Blowdarts | Pierce heavily armored enemies | Reach a heavily armored target |
| Noisemakers | Put enemies in the impact zone to sleep | Incapacitate enemies around the impact |
| Traps | Trigger berserk behavior | Disrupt enemy behavior |
These are upgrade-specific effects; do not expect them from an unupgraded tool. The sources describe the effects but do not establish one upgrade order that suits every play style.
8. Use Assassin’s Focus to thin a group quickly
Assassin’s Focus can eliminate up to four enemies in rapid succession, according to Ubisoft’s June 2023 overview. Treat it as a way to remove multiple threats when the situation calls for it, not as a reason to skip scouting or assume every encounter should become a fight.

Keep stealth intact—and make escape part of the plan
9. Pick an approach and an exit
Before entering a guarded space, identify how you will leave if your cover breaks. Ubisoft highlights collapsible scaffolding and pole vaults among the game’s escape options. Keep those routes in mind while scouting so you are not forced to improvise through the same guards you were trying to avoid.
10. Use replayable missions to practice constraints
Black Box missions and contracts can be replayed, and some challenges impose conditions such as avoiding Eagle Vision, killing only the primary target, or remaining undetected. These restrictions make replay a useful way to practise a particular skill without treating every attempt as a first run. Ubisoft’s feature overview and Title Update 1.1.0 notes describe replayable challenges.

If stealth breaks, fight to regain control
11. Avoid trading hits
Basim’s “glass cannon” design means he can deal damage but cannot take heavy damage, as Ubisoft’s creative director Stéphane Boudon and art director Jean-Luc Sala described it. Favor controlled responses and a chance to disengage over standing in reach and trading blows. The design description supports caution; it does not establish a universal sequence of attacks or timing for every enemy.
12. Learn the documented combat updates
Title Update 1.1.0 added an opportunity to dodge a Shakiriyya attack after parrying, widened the kick opportunity window, and added a combat-defense tutorial panel. These are specific update notes, not a guarantee that one timing rule applies to every enemy. Check the tutorial panel and your installed game version for the applicable behavior.
Set the challenge and movement to suit you
13. Adjust difficulty or eject behavior instead of forcing one play style
Ubisoft’s current feature overview lists five presets and custom difficulty. It also documents two eject settings: Free allows side or back ejects without a clear landing spot or handhold, while Safe retains safer landing behavior.
| Setting | What Ubisoft documents | Consider it if… |
|---|---|---|
| Apprentice | Difficulty preset; detailed enemy behavior not stated in the cited overview | You want to choose a lower listed preset; exact differences are not specified here |
| Assassin | Difficulty preset; detailed enemy behavior not stated in the cited overview | You want the named Assassin preset |
| Hardened Assassin | Assassin difficulty with higher-defense enemies | You want Assassin difficulty with tougher enemy defense |
| Master Assassin | Difficulty preset; detailed enemy behavior not stated in the cited overview | You want to choose this named preset; exact differences are not specified here |
| Ultimate Assassin | Difficulty preset; detailed enemy behavior not stated in the cited overview | You want to choose this named preset; exact differences are not specified here |
| Custom | Custom difficulty is available | You want to tailor the challenge rather than select a preset |
| Safe eject | Retains safer landing behavior | You prefer more predictable landing conditions |
| Free eject | Allows side or back ejects without a clear landing spot or handhold | You value traversal freedom and accept less predictable landings |
A Modern control preset is also available. The cited material does not give a platform-by-platform button map, so use the prompts shown by your current version and control setup. The settings and preset details above are documented in Ubisoft’s November 2025 feature overview and Title Update 1.1.0 release notes.
