Assassin’s Creed Shadows has reached the end of its planned major content updates. Ubisoft said on June 16, 2026, that Title Update 1.1.11 is the final major update and that no further major content updates are planned. It adds the concluding Black Tides story arc and five Domains challenge arenas. The separate Claws of Awaji expansion is also available, but it is not required to play the finale.
What is the current Assassin’s Creed Shadows roadmap?
There is no announced schedule of future major content updates. Ubisoft’s June 16, 2026 statement identifies Title Update 1.1.11 as the final major update and says no further major content updates are planned. That is the latest official status; it does not establish whether minor fixes or other maintenance will occur.
The April 30, 2025 roadmap was a plan at the time, not a current forecast. It announced regular free additions, story drops, new allies and activities, New Game+, a higher level cap, tougher difficulty settings, and Claws of Awaji. Its first named Story Drop was “The Works of Luis Frois.” Ubisoft’s later final-update statement supersedes that forward-looking schedule.
What does the final update add?
Black Tides concludes the protagonists’ story
Black Tides is the closing story arc for Naoe and Yasuke. Ubisoft describes it as about two hours of story content. To unlock its final mission, complete the main story and the earlier post-launch quests “A Critical Encounter” and “A Puzzlement.” You do not need to own or play Claws of Awaji.

Domains adds five challenge arenas
Domains is a challenge feature set outside the Japan simulation. Its five arenas—Broken Sky, Megalithic Domain, Blood Moon, Shipbreaker, and White-Out—use objectives and changing gameplay modifiers, so adapting your build is part of each challenge. Ubisoft’s guide directs players to the Objective Board and says to approach the feature at level 30 or above.
What is Claws of Awaji, and is it included?
Claws of Awaji is a paid expansion for players who did not preorder, and it is free for anyone who preordered any edition. It is not a standalone game: the base game is required. Ubisoft describes it as over 10 hours of additional content set on Awaji Island, beyond Osaka Bay, where Naoe and Yasuke pursue a lost treasure and confront the Sanzoku Ippa clan.

The expansion adds story content, foes, skills, outfits, perks, gear, and legendary Bo weapons; new gear can be taken back into the main game. Ubisoft’s September 2025 guide listed a $/€25 launch price, which is historical rather than a verified current price. Check your regional platform store for current availability and pricing.
How do you access Claws of Awaji?
- Own the base game. The expansion requires Assassin’s Creed Shadows and cannot be played on its own.
- Complete both protagonists’ main story arcs. Ubisoft’s access guidance also specifies the “Out of the Shadows” quest path.
- Find Hanzo’s contact at the Settsu Hideout. This begins the route into the expansion.
- Check your entitlement. A preorder of any edition includes the expansion; otherwise, purchase it through a supported platform store.
Is the Bo staff free?
The quest that introduces the Bo staff is free for all game owners. The expansion is required for procedural Bo weapon drops across Japan, as well as the Awaji story and its other expansion content. In other words, access to the weapon type’s introduction is not the same as access to the expansion’s Bo drops.
