The expansion is no longer preorder-exclusive: Ubisoft says players who did not preorder can buy it separately. For a new purchase, the key choice is whether you want the base game, Premium Edition’s expansion and digital extras, or the Collector’s Edition’s physical collectibles.
What were the Assassin’s Creed Shadows preorder bonuses?
Ubisoft’s original offer gave every player who preordered Assassin’s Creed Shadows Claws of Awaji at no additional cost. Ubisoft’s March 18, 2025 announcement specified that preorders also included “Thrown to the Dogs,” a bonus quest available at launch. Ubisoft’s January 23, 2025 announcement introduced the expansion offer, and its March 18, 2025 announcement described both bonuses.
Ubisoft’s Collector’s Edition FAQ said the preorder bonus was included in that box and described the package as the expansion plus the extra launch mission. That is a historical description of the offer, not confirmation that preorders or Collector’s Editions remain available. Ubisoft’s FAQ and Collector’s Edition information also clarify that the season-pass quest became available to all players on launch day after the season pass was cancelled; it is not an additional preorder-exclusive quest.
Can you still get Claws of Awaji without preordering?
Yes. Claws of Awaji launched on September 16, 2025. Ubisoft says players who did not preorder can purchase it as an add-on; players who preordered received it at no extra cost. Ubisoft describes the expansion as more than 10 hours of additional content, including a new island region, story, foes, skills, weapon abilities, armor, and gear for Naoe and Yasuke. The duration is Ubisoft’s claim, not a guaranteed playtime for every player. Ubisoft’s September 16, 2025 announcement explains the add-on and expansion content.

Which Assassin’s Creed Shadows edition should you buy?
Ubisoft’s US catalog lists Standard, Digital Deluxe, and Premium Editions, but a catalog listing does not guarantee that a particular edition is available on every platform or in every region. The game page specifically describes Premium’s included content. Check your platform’s local store listing before buying, especially when comparing Premium with the base game plus the expansion purchased separately. Ubisoft’s US Store catalog and game page are the official references for those listings and contents.

Choose based on what you want
- Story access: Standard is the base-game option if the platform listing confirms that wording. Premium is the edition Ubisoft explicitly says includes Claws of Awaji; the expansion is also sold separately.
- Digital extras: Premium adds the protagonist gear and weapon sets, mount, trinket, and hideout ornaments listed by Ubisoft. Their value depends on whether those cosmetic and equipment items matter to you.
- Physical collectibles: The Collector’s Edition is the relevant option for the statue, steelbook, art book, tsuba, wall scroll, and lithographs. Confirm stock and contents on a current seller listing.
- Price and platform: Prices, discounts, and edition availability vary by region and storefront. Compare the current local prices of Premium and Standard plus the expansion rather than relying on an old launch price.
What comes in the Collector’s Edition?
Ubisoft’s Collector’s Edition page documents these physical items:
- A dual-character statue
- A steelbook case
- A collector’s art book
- A life-sized Naoe katana tsuba
- A Creed wall scroll
- Sumi-e lithographs
The page’s preorder and limited-quantity language describes the original offer; it does not establish that the edition is currently in stock. Verify the exact contents, platform, region, and availability on the seller’s current listing before purchasing. Ubisoft’s Collector’s Edition page and FAQ document the items.

Check regional and retailer-specific offers before buying
The official information above establishes Ubisoft’s offer and listed edition contents, not current retailer-specific bonuses or inventory. Retailer promotions, physical SKUs, and platform availability can differ by territory. If a store advertises an extra item, confirm that it appears on the current listing for your region and platform; do not assume an old preorder bonus is still attached to a new purchase.
