If Tyra stops moving during “Finding Fritjof” in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, first check your quest stage and location, then install the latest update available for your platform. Ubisoft specifically lists Tyra not moving inside the Foundry as addressed in Title Update 1.6.2. Other stages have separate documented progression bugs, so that fix does not guarantee every stuck save will recover.
Start with your location and last completed objective
“Finding Fritjof” is a Dawn of Ragnarök quest. The normal route gives you useful checkpoints: follow Tyra, inspect an engraved tree at a fork using Odin’s Sight, continue to the mines, get the key, free Fritjof, then carry him back to Tyra. Compare your current objective and Tyra’s location with that sequence before trying a workaround. Game8’s quest walkthrough describes the route.
- Inside the Foundry or just after leaving it: Ubisoft’s Title Update 1.6.2 notes explicitly list “During the quest ‘Finding Fritjof’ Tyra won’t move inside the Foundry area” as addressed. Update the game and check whether the objective marker changes. The note applies to that Foundry-area issue; it does not establish that every movement stall has the same cause. - After the Muspel patrol: Check that you are still following the route and have reached the next objective trigger. Muspels and wolves can appear along the way, but the walkthrough does not establish that killing every nearby enemy fixes Tyra’s pathing.
- At the fork, with no progress: Use Odin’s Sight on the engraved tree and check whether the clue registers. Ubisoft separately documented a bug in which waking during the investigation could leave clues non-interactable; the patch note identifies the issue but does not provide a guaranteed repair for an already affected save. - Near the boat or stuck in water: Title Update 1.5.1 lists a case where Tyra could get stuck in water if her boat was destroyed, as well as a save/load action before crossing the river by boat that could break quest flow. If replaying from a safe point, avoid destroying the boat or saving and loading around that crossing. Ubisoft’s notes do not give a confirmed way to repair a save already affected by either issue.
- Blocked at Fornama: Check whether the actual blockage is missing arrows at the Fornama Dig Site. Ubisoft listed those missing arrows as a progression issue, separate from Tyra’s Foundry movement bug.
Update the game before replaying the section
Install the newest update available for your platform, then reload and check the quest objective. Title Update 1.6.2 is Ubisoft’s documented fix for Tyra not moving inside the Foundry. Title Update 1.5.1 records the separate investigation, boat, and Fornama problems. These patch notes identify addressed defects; they are not a promise that an affected save will automatically resume or that all possible stalls have been fixed.

If Tyra still will not move
- Record the state of the quest: Note the displayed objective, Tyra’s exact location, platform, installed game version, and what happened immediately before she stopped. Include whether the objective marker or clue changed.
- Preserve your current save: Keep a current save before testing an older one or replaying a large section. Ubisoft’s patch notes do not describe a guaranteed recovery for every blocked quest state.
- Check official support for your platform: Provide the quest stage and the details above rather than reporting only that Tyra is stuck. This helps distinguish the Foundry issue from the investigation, boat-crossing, or Fornama cases.
- Consider an older manual save only as a last resort: A July 2026 player report says meditation and going to the expected boat did not help; that player later replayed successfully from a manual save made two years earlier. This is one anecdote, not a verified general fix, and returning to an older save can cost substantial progress. Read the player report.
