Astro Bot’s strongest levels make one playful idea shape the whole stage: shrinking changes how you explore, slow motion turns hazards into puzzles, and a sponge power transforms the space around you. This is a spoiler-aware ranking of ten standout levels from the main campaign, judged by how inventively each uses its mechanic, how much variety it brings to movement and exploration, and how memorable its setting or set pieces are. The order is editorial, not an official or consensus ranking.

How this ranking works

Astro Bot launched on PlayStation 5 in 2024. Team Asobi described the game as spanning six galaxies and over 80 levels, with over 15 new abilities and over 70 new enemy types; those are the studio’s launch figures, not a verified count of everything added since. The sheer variety makes a single “best” list subjective, so the ranking below favors levels whose central idea meaningfully changes how you move, explore, or read the environment. A concise level can outrank a larger one when its idea is especially well executed.

This list focuses on ten main-campaign stages. In 2025, Team Asobi added five harder Vicious Void Galaxy levels as a post-launch challenge: Tick-Tock Shock, Thrust or Bust, Cock-A-Doodle-Doom, Hard to Bear, and Armored Hardcore. They require completion of the main game, and each has a Special Bot and a Time Attack mode with online rankings after rescue. Because the official announcement describes their rollout and difficulty rather than comparing their quality with the campaign, they are not ranked here. Team Asobi’s announcement says the five stages rolled out weekly from February 13 through March 13, 2025.

10. Dude Raiding

Dude Raiding earns its place by giving its adventure-film theme room to develop. Its opening establishes the mood, then the stage shifts into a dungeon and a boss encounter rather than relying on a single visual gag. That progression gives the level a satisfying sense of escalation and makes its themed setting part of the play experience.

  • RE-STUFFED. RE-STITCHED. RE-ZIPPED - Sackboy returns to the big time stuffed with fresh moves and game-changing gadgets in an awe-inspiring and downright fun 3D adventure in this new, but familiar world.

9. Machine Learning

Machine Learning stands out for its Horizon-inspired setting and ranged combat. The change in combat rhythm gives the level a distinct identity among Astro Bot’s more traversal-led stages, while the familiar visual references make its world immediately recognizable. It is a strong example of the game using a cameo concept as more than background decoration.

8. Trapped in Time

Trapped in Time uses a chicken boost to make vertical movement the point of the stage. The level’s appeal comes from climbing and reaching new heights, giving its movement a clear focus rather than spreading attention across a wide range of mechanics. It is a compact, direct showcase for an ability that rewards looking upward.

7. Apes on the Loose

Apes on the Loose adapts Ape Escape’s monkey-catching premise into an Astro Bot level. Its central activity is easy to understand, but the search-and-catch structure gives exploration a playful purpose. The crossover works because the reference informs what you do, not just what you see.

6. Bubbling Under

Bubbling Under is an underwater sandbox, and that open-ended quality is its strength. Rather than funneling the experience around one tightly defined set piece, it invites you to explore and discover what the aquatic space contains. It offers a welcome change of pace in a game built from sharply varied stage concepts.

  • Teamwork: Switch between Dog Man and his Supa Buddies, each with their own special abilities, to overcome obstacles and defeat bosses. o Dog Man: Digs underground and glides through the air. o Li’l Petey: Hacks gadgets and fits into small spaces. o 80-HD: Pushes heavy objects and jumps long distances.
  • Fun Gadgets: Unlock new gadgets and abilities as you progress, like a grappling hook, rocket boots and power gloves to navigate through the levels. Puzzles and Bosses: Use your brain to solve puzzles and defeat unique bosses. Each boss fight requires clever use of your team’s abilities.

  • Art Style: Great animations inspired by the books, with comic-style sound effects that add a fun, cartoonish touch to the action.

5. Djinny of the Lamp

Djinny of the Lamp combines exploration with a tornado-focused platforming section and a boss. That mix gives the level several distinct phases: time to investigate, a movement challenge that makes its central effect matter, and a climactic encounter. Its variety keeps the stage from resting on its theme alone.

4. Downsize Surprise

Downsize Surprise makes shrinking alter the scale of traversal. Objects and routes take on new proportions, so moving through the environment becomes an exercise in noticing how the change affects what is reachable. Its mechanic is especially effective because it changes the way you interpret the stage, rather than simply adding another attack.

It also rewards players who check for hidden routes: a secret exit in Downsize Surprise is among the routes identified in PowerPyx’s Lost Galaxy guide. That makes it a useful reminder that completion and discovery are not always the same thing.

3. Slo-Mo Casino

Slo-Mo Casino builds both obstacles and traversal around slow motion. Changing the pace turns hazards into timing puzzles and makes the mechanic relevant across the stage instead of confining it to a brief novelty. The casino setting gives the level visual character, but its strongest idea is how consistently it turns altered timing into a platforming tool.

2. Bathhouse Battle

Bathhouse Battle uses the sponge power’s water mechanic to change Astro’s size. The transformation gives the environment a playful physical logic: taking on water affects how you fit into and move through the space. It is one of the clearest examples of an ability serving as both a visual joke and a source of platforming possibilities.

1. Luna Sola

Luna Sola’s day-and-night shifts rotate the environment, making the change in lighting a change in how the level works. That is an unusually strong fit between presentation and play: the scene’s transformation is also the platforming idea. It takes a memorable visual premise and uses it to keep the player rethinking the space, which makes Luna Sola the most complete level on this list.

More levels to discover

Hidden exits add another layer to Astro Bot’s level design. Creamy Canyon, like Downsize Surprise, has a secret Lost Galaxy route listed in PowerPyx’s guide. These discoveries extend the game beyond simply reaching a stage’s finish, giving attentive players reasons to inspect the route they took.

For the official game details, see PlayStation’s Astro Bot page. Team Asobi’s 2024 launch announcement provides the original scope figures. For another editorial take on the ten main-campaign levels, David Silbert’s September 2024 ranking offers a different ordering; it is one writer’s perspective, not an official list.
