ASUS Computex 2024 Product List Leak: What Became of ROG Ally 2024, Thor III, and Mjolnir?

A May 2024 ASUS leak correctly foreshadowed the ROG Ally X and Thor III power supplies, but the final names and Mjolnir’s retail status require important qualifications.

The ASUS Computex 2024 leak was broadly accurate, but its most important name changed before launch: the reported “ROG Ally 2024” became the ROG Ally X, not a ROG Ally 2. The leaked Thor 1600W entry also led to a real product family, while ROG Mjolnir was officially showcased but had less certain retail status.

The ASUS Computex 2024 leak was broadly accurate, but one of its most important names changed before launch. The reported “ROG Ally 2024” became the ROG Ally X, not a full ROG Ally 2. ASUS also went on to announce the ROG Thor III power-supply family, including the 1600W Titanium model. ROG Mjolnir was officially showcased as a portable UPS, although its broad retail availability remained unclear.

In other words, the May 4, 2024 product-list leak from VideoCardz was a credible preview of ASUS’s Computex plans—not an ASUS announcement and not a perfectly accurate list of final product names.

What the leaked ASUS product list claimed

VideoCardz reported the leaked list approximately one month before Computex 2024. It covered much more than handheld gaming: the reported lineup included laptops, desktop power supplies, peripherals, networking hardware, ProArt systems, and other PC components.

The three most prominent entries were:

  • A refreshed ROG Ally 2024 handheld
  • A ROG Thor 1600W III Titanium power supply
  • A portable ROG Mjolnir UPS

The leak also reportedly pointed to Snapdragon X-based laptops, refreshed Intel- and AMD-powered notebooks, ProArt products, TUF gaming models, networking equipment, and new peripherals. It specifically noted that an RTX 5090 was not included in the list.

For the handheld, the report described a mid-generation refresh rather than an outright ROG Ally 2. It expected ASUS to retain the AMD Ryzen Z1 platform and suggested that the company might address the original Ally’s microSD-card problem and increase battery capacity. Those details were predictions at the time; they should not be presented as confirmed facts about the leaked device.

Timeline: leak to confirmed products

Date What happened
May 4, 2024 VideoCardz reported a leaked ASUS Computex product list, including the rumored ROG Ally refresh, Thor 1600W III, and Mjolnir UPS.
June 4, 2024 ASUS officially announced the ROG Ally X and identified ROG Thor III and ROG Mjolnir among its Computex gaming innovations.
July 21, 2024 ASUS announced U.S. availability for the ROG Ally X at a $799.99 MSRP through Best Buy and the ASUS Online Store.
October 16, 2024 ASUS formally announced the Thor III power-supply family, including the 1600W Titanium model.

ROG Ally X was the leak’s biggest hit

The product that most clearly emerged from the leaked “ROG Ally 2024” entry was the ROG Ally X (2024). ASUS presented it as a substantial refresh of the existing handheld rather than a new generation called ROG Ally 2.

ASUS’s official announcement highlighted these features:

  • AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor
  • Integrated RDNA 3 graphics
  • An 80 Wh battery
  • A redesigned internal layout
  • Revised ergonomics and new joystick hardware
  • Two USB-C ports
  • A 7-inch Full HD display with a 120 Hz refresh rate
  • Support for PC game platforms including Game Pass, Steam, EA App, and Epic Games

ASUS product documentation also lists 24GB of LPDDR5X memory. Specifications and configurations can vary by market, so buyers should check the local ASUS product page before treating any individual specification as universal.

The 80 Wh battery was one of the most meaningful changes from the original Ally. The second USB-C port also made the revised handheld more flexible for charging, displays, docks, and other accessories. Those changes fit the general direction suggested by the leak, but the final product was more than a minor cosmetic refresh.

For readers interested in the product that actually launched, the ROG Ally X (2024) is the relevant model—not “ROG Ally 2.” ASUS confirmed a U.S. MSRP of $799.99 when it announced retail availability in July 2024. That price and availability are historical launch details; current pricing and stock can change.

ROG Ally 2024 versus ROG Ally X

Leak-era wording Final product How to describe it
ROG Ally 2024 ROG Ally X (2024) The leaked shorthand for a refresh that ASUS officially launched under the Ally X name.
ROG Ally 2 Not the official name Do not use this as the name of the product ASUS announced.
Retained Ryzen Z1 platform Ryzen Z1 Extreme in the announced model Use the official configuration rather than treating the leak’s prediction as final.

ROG Thor III turned the PSU rumor into a product family

The leak referred to a “Thor 1600 III PSU.” ASUS’s final announcement was more specific: the ROG Thor III family launched with three models:

  • ROG Thor 1600W Titanium III
  • ROG Thor 1200W Platinum III
  • ROG Thor 1000W Platinum III

That makes “ROG Thor 1600W Titanium III” the correct final name for the flagship model, rather than “Thor 1600 III” or “Thor 1600W III PSU.”

ASUS positioned Thor III at the premium enthusiast-PC market. The announced feature set includes gallium-nitride MOSFETs, GPU-FIRST voltage sensing, upgraded PCIe connectors, ATX 3.1 compatibility, etched modular cables, a detachable magnetic OLED display, and a Turbo Mode. ASUS also lists a 10-year warranty for the family.

The 1600W unit carries 80 PLUS Titanium certification. The 1200W and 1000W models carry 80 PLUS Platinum certification. Those ratings describe efficiency categories; they do not mean that every gaming PC will benefit from buying the largest unit.

A 1600W power supply is excessive for most ordinary gaming systems. It makes more sense for unusually power-hungry enthusiast builds, multiple-GPU-era upgrade planning, workstation-like configurations, or systems where the builder has a specific power-budget requirement. The right choice still depends on the graphics card, processor, transient-power behavior, connectors, case compatibility, and expected upgrade path.

ROG Mjolnir was real—but retail status was less certain

ROG Mjolnir was not simply a stray name from the leak. ASUS included it in its official Computex 2024 materials and described it as a UPS designed to keep gaming equipment powered reliably.

That confirms Mjolnir as a genuine ASUS/ROG showcase product. It does not establish that it received a broad commercial launch or dependable U.S. retail availability. The available research did not verify a current, reliable U.S. store listing or a widely announced retail program.

The careful wording is therefore that ASUS showcased, announced, or featured ROG Mjolnir at Computex 2024. It would be inaccurate to tell readers that Mjolnir was broadly available for purchase without a fresh check of ASUS’s regional channels and current retailers.

The broader ASUS Computex lineup

The leak’s importance was not limited to three products. It suggested that ASUS was preparing a broad, multi-category Computex presentation, and ASUS’s own event materials supported that characterization.

Among the products and categories associated with the official presentation were:

  • The AMD-powered ROG Zephyrus G16
  • ROG Azoth Extreme keyboard
  • ROG Harpe Ace Extreme mouse
  • ROG Delta II headset
  • ROG Destrier Core gaming chair
  • New networking equipment and routers
  • Motherboards and liquid coolers
  • ProArt systems and creator-focused hardware
  • Refreshed TUF gaming products

ASUS separately highlighted a next-generation ROG Maximus Hero BTF motherboard, a next-generation X870 motherboard, CAMM2 memory support, and new all-in-one coolers. These products provide context for the scale of the event, although they are supporting details rather than evidence that every item in the leaked list launched exactly as reported.

How accurate was the leak?

The leak was directionally strong but not perfectly precise.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Correct category: It identified a major ROG Ally refresh, and ASUS later launched the ROG Ally X.
  • Correct product direction: It anticipated the Thor III power-supply line, although the final naming and lineup were more detailed.
  • Confirmed showcase: ROG Mjolnir appeared in ASUS’s official Computex materials.
  • Broader lineup: The leak’s emphasis on laptops, peripherals, networking, and PC components matched the wide scope of ASUS’s presentation.
  • Naming correction: “ROG Ally 2024” was not the final retail name, and “ROG Ally 2” would be even less accurate.
  • Availability distinction: The Ally X received confirmed U.S. retail availability, while Mjolnir’s broad retail status was not established by this evidence.

The best retrospective summary is that VideoCardz appears to have obtained a credible preview of ASUS’s plans, but the leak should be read alongside the final announcements. Rumor-era labels and predictions should not replace official product names, specifications, or availability information.

What readers should take away

If you were tracking ASUS’s 2024 handheld plans, the product to look for is the ROG Ally X, a more capable refresh with a larger battery, revised hardware, and two USB-C ports. If you were interested in high-end desktop power, the final product name is ROG Thor 1600W Titanium III, part of a wider Thor III family.

ROG Mjolnir is best treated as an officially showcased portable UPS whose retail future or regional availability required separate verification. It should not be grouped with the Ally X as though both had the same confirmed U.S. launch status.

Finally, this is a retrospective verification of a May 2024 leak. It is not evidence of a current ASUS product roadmap, current pricing, current inventory, or future release schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. ASUS officially announced the product as the ROG Ally X, or ROG Ally X (2024). It was presented as a substantial refresh of the original Ally, not as a product named ROG Ally 2.

Was the leaked ROG Ally 2024 actually the ROG Ally 2?

The final flagship model was the ROG Thor 1600W Titanium III. It launched as part of the Thor III family alongside 1200W Platinum III and 1000W Platinum III models.

What was the final name of the leaked Thor 1600 PSU?

ASUS officially showcased ROG Mjolnir as a portable UPS at Computex 2024, but the research does not establish dependable broad U.S. retail availability. Current availability would require a fresh regional ASUS and retailer check.

Was ROG Mjolnir released for sale?

ASUS announced a U.S. MSRP of $799.99 in July 2024, with availability through Best Buy and the ASUS Online Store. Current prices and stock may differ.

How much did the ROG Ally X cost at U.S. launch?

The Bottom Line

Bottom line: The ASUS leak was broadly validated, but the final story is more precise: “ROG Ally 2024” became the officially launched ROG Ally X, “Thor 1600 III” became the ROG Thor 1600W Titanium III within the Thor III family, and ROG Mjolnir was confirmed as a Computex showcase without equally clear broad retail availability.
