This can make your profile display “Playing Roblox.” However, Discord cannot automatically show the exact Roblox experience in every case. The specific game name and richer details require support from that Roblox game through Discord Rich Presence or the Roblox Social SDK.
Make Discord detect Roblox
- Open the Discord desktop app. The standard game-detection controls are available in Discord’s desktop client. Start Discord before launching Roblox.
- Launch Roblox and enter the experience you want to play.
- In Discord, click the gear icon beside your username to open User Settings.
- Open Activity Sharing and turn on Share my activity. Discord’s activity settings control whether detectable games can appear to friends and other permitted users. See Discord’s Activity Sharing FAQ for the current privacy options.
- Open Registered Games. If Roblox already appears, make sure its eye icon is enabled rather than crossed out.
- If Roblox is missing, click Add it while Roblox is still running and select the Roblox process from the list.
After this, your profile should be able to show a generic activity such as Playing Roblox. Discord’s support documentation explains that games can be added while open and that the eye icon controls whether an individual detected game is displayed. You can also review Discord’s instructions for recently played games and registered games.

Allow activity to appear in a particular server
Global activity sharing is not the only privacy control. Discord can also limit activity visibility by server.
- Right-click the Discord server where you want people to see your Roblox status.
- Select Privacy Settings.
- Make sure the server’s activity-status option is enabled.
If activity is disabled for that server, members there may not see your Roblox status even when Discord detects the game. Discord notes that activity can still be visible in another context, such as to friends or users who share a different server where activity is allowed.

Why Discord may show only “Playing Roblox”
Adding Roblox to Registered Games detects the running application. It does not automatically identify every Roblox experience you enter. That is why the result may be only a generic Playing Roblox status.
The exact experience name, elapsed time, party information, buttons, and other details are part of Rich Presence. Discord’s developer documentation describes Rich Presence as data that a game or integration publishes to Discord, including fields such as the game name, details, state, timestamps, and party information. Ordinary application detection and Rich Presence are separate systems.
In practical terms:
- Registered Games: Discord detects the Roblox application and can display Roblox as your current activity.
- Rich Presence or an official integration: The participating Roblox game can provide its own experience name and additional information.
Renaming the Registered Games entry will not create genuine experience-specific Rich Presence. It only changes the label for the detected application and could misrepresent what is actually running.
How to show the exact Roblox experience name
The official route is available only for Roblox experiences whose developers have enabled Discord’s Roblox Social SDK integration. Discord gives examples such as Brookhaven and Grow a Garden, but explicitly says that not all Roblox games provide detailed activity. The feature is currently limited to specific participating games and their official Discord servers; it is not a universal switch that works across Roblox.

- In Discord, open User Settings > Connections.
- Find Roblox and follow the prompts to link your Roblox account.
- Join the participating game’s official Discord server.
- Authorize that specific game when Discord prompts you.
- Keep Settings > Activity Privacy > Share my activity enabled.
Linking Roblox in Connections and authorizing an individual game are separate steps. The game developer decides whether the integration is available, which features are enabled, and what activity details are displayed. Discord’s Roblox Social SDK integration FAQ explains these limitations.
If the account-linking prompt is absent, that does not necessarily indicate a problem with your Discord account. The Roblox experience or its official server may simply not support the integration.

Restarting both applications is a troubleshooting step, not a guarantee. If detection still fails, repeat the process with Discord running before Roblox and add the currently running process again.
Can this work on mobile, console, or Discord in a browser?
Treat this as a desktop-first setup. Discord’s Rich Presence documentation says that RPC-based Rich Presence requires a running Discord desktop client and does not support the direct RPC method on mobile, console, or web clients. The standard activity interface may let you view activity cards on mobile, but that does not mean a Roblox session started on a phone or console can provide the same desktop detection and Rich Presence behavior.
For the most reliable setup, run Roblox and the Discord desktop application on a supported computer at the same time.

Should you use a third-party Roblox Rich Presence tool?
Unofficial community utilities exist that attempt to identify the current Roblox place and publish it as Discord Rich Presence. Community projects have described methods such as reading Roblox launch information or monitoring the running process, and some are documented as Windows-only.

The Roblox Developer Forum has community discussion of unofficial approaches, including a project that used Roblox process launch parameters to identify a place ID: Roblox Rich Presence on Discord. That discussion should be treated as community information rather than official support or a safety endorsement.

There are three realistic outcomes:
- No detection: Activity sharing, server privacy, or process detection still needs to be configured.
- Generic status: Discord shows Playing Roblox. This is the normal result when only application detection is available.
- Specific experience activity: Discord shows the Roblox game’s name and possibly additional details because that experience supports Rich Presence or the Roblox Social SDK integration.
The key limitation is that you cannot force Discord’s ordinary Registered Games feature to discover the exact experience for every Roblox game. That information has to be supplied by the game or by a separate integration.

Why does Discord say I am playing Roblox but not show the game name?
Discord has detected the Roblox application, but the individual experience has not supplied game-specific Rich Presence data. Only participating Roblox games can provide the exact experience name and richer details through an official integration.

Do I need Discord Nitro to show Roblox as my activity?
The supplied Discord documentation does not identify Nitro as a requirement for ordinary activity sharing or Registered Games detection. The relevant requirements are the Discord desktop app, Roblox running, activity sharing enabled, and permitted visibility settings.
Can I manually type the Roblox game name into Registered Games?
Changing a Registered Games label does not create genuine Rich Presence or verify which Roblox experience is running. It may only rename the detected application and can make the status inaccurate.
Why can’t I find Roblox under Discord Connections?
The Roblox connection or game-specific authorization flow may be limited to participating experiences and official Discord servers. If the developer has not enabled the Roblox Social SDK integration, the prompt may not be available.

Bottom line: Open Roblox, enable Share my activity, add the running Roblox process under User Settings > Registered Games, and verify the server privacy setting. That should let Discord show Playing Roblox. Showing the exact Roblox experience requires developer-provided Rich Presence or the selective Roblox Social SDK integration; it cannot be guaranteed for every game.
