ASUS’s ROG Swift OLED PG27UCDM is not a new August 2026 launch: ASUS announced it on January 21, 2025, and its U.S. store currently lists it at $1,099. It remains an unusually compact flagship monitor, combining a 26.5-inch viewable 4K Tandem QD-OLED panel, 240Hz refresh rate, and DisplayPort 2.1a UHBR20.

ASUS calls it the world’s first 27-inch 4K OLED gaming monitor, with more specific company wording describing it as the first 27-inch 4K/240Hz OLED gaming monitor with DisplayPort 2.1a. That claim should be understood as ASUS’s designation, but the specification remains significant for high-end PC gaming and hybrid gaming-and-creation setups.

Availability and price

ASUS announced immediate U.S. pre-order availability for the PG27UCDM on January 21, 2025, with an MSRP of $1,099. As checked on August 18, 2026, the ASUS U.S. product page still listed the monitor at $1,099 and included a “Buy Now” link.

That confirms current listing availability through ASUS in the U.S., not universal stock or a new global launch. Retail inventory, shipping dates, taxes, regional pricing, return terms, and warranty conditions can differ, so check those details at checkout.

What makes the PG27UCDM unusual?

The PG27UCDM pairs specifications that are still rare together:

  • 26.5-inch viewable area in the 27-inch monitor class
  • 3840 × 2160 4K resolution
  • Fourth-generation Tandem QD-OLED panel
  • 240Hz refresh rate
  • ASUS-rated 0.03ms gray-to-gray response time
  • 166 pixels per inch
  • 99% DCI-P3 coverage
  • True 10-bit color and claimed Delta E below 2
  • VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400
  • HDR10 and Dolby Vision support
  • G-SYNC compatibility

OLED provides per-pixel light control, deep blacks, wide viewing angles, and extremely fast pixel transitions. The 4K resolution also makes fine game detail and desktop text substantially sharper than 27-inch 1440p displays. At roughly 166ppi, however, some users may need operating-system scaling for comfortable reading.

The main compromise is workload. Rendering 4K at 240 frames per second is demanding, and many modern games will need an enthusiast-class GPU, reduced settings, or upscaling to approach the panel’s maximum refresh rate. A 240Hz monitor does not create 240fps; its value depends on what the rest of the system can deliver.

DisplayPort 2.1a UHBR20: the key PC feature

ASUS specifies DisplayPort 2.1a UHBR20 with up to 80Gbps of bandwidth. ASUS says this enables 4K at 240Hz and 8K at 60Hz without compression. The monitor also includes HDMI 2.1, listed by ASUS as offering up to 48Gbps full bandwidth.

ASUS ROG PG32UCDM 32 Inch 4K 240Hz OLED Gaming Monitor QD-OLED
  • Immersive 4K QD-OLED Display: 32-inch 4K (3840 x 2160) QD-OLED gaming monitor with 240 Hz refresh rate and 0.03 ms (GTG) response time for immersive gaming
  • Advanced Heat Management System: Highly efficient custom heatsink, advanced airflow design, and graphene film for better heat management to reduce the risk of burn-in
  • Exceptional HDR Performance: VESA DisplayHDR 400 True Black compliance, 99% DCI-P3 gamut, true 10-bit, and Delta E < 2 color difference for astonishing HDR performance
  • Uniform Brightness Setting: Optional uniform brightness setting ensures consistent luminance levels across the entire display
  • Convenient Monitor Control: DisplayWidget Center allows users to access OLED Care functions, as well as adjust monitor settings with a mouse

This capability matters because it can reduce the need to rely on Display Stream Compression for high-refresh 4K output. It does not, however, upgrade an older graphics card. The GPU, monitor, and cable must all support the required DisplayPort mode, and not every cable marketed as DisplayPort 2.1 necessarily provides UHBR20 performance. Users with older GPUs can still use the display, but may need compression, a lower refresh rate, or another connection mode.

Before buying, confirm the output capabilities of your graphics card and use a properly certified cable. The ASUS user guide identifies USB-C as DisplayPort Alt Mode with 90W Power Delivery.

Gaming features and real-world trade-offs

The OLED panel’s rapid response is well suited to fast games, while variable refresh support helps synchronize the display with fluctuating frame rates. ASUS’s quoted 0.03ms GTG figure is a panel response-time rating, not a measurement of total input latency from controller or mouse to on-screen result.

OLED Anti-Flicker 2.0

ASUS says OLED Anti-Flicker 2.0 uses a luminance-compensation algorithm to boost pixel brightness dynamically when refresh rates fluctuate. The company claims a 20% reduction in flicker compared with previous-generation panels and includes a Refresh Rate Cap function with three preset ranges.

ASUS ROG PG27AQDP 27 Inch 1440p 480Hz OLED Gaming Monitor
  • World's First 1440P 480Hz OLED Gaming Monitor: Experience unprecedented gaming performance with the industry's first 1440P resolution OLED display running at an incredible 480Hz refresh rate
  • Ultra-Fast Response Time and High Refresh Rate: 26.5-inch QHD 480Hz WOLED gaming monitor delivers 0.03ms response time for sharp and ultra-fast gaming visuals without motion blur
  • Exclusive Gaming AI Assistant: Advanced AI technology helps you better navigate your gaming experience with intelligent features and optimizations
  • ROG OLED Anti-Flicker Technology: Exclusive technology helps reduce the flicker during refresh rate fluctuations for more comfortable extended gaming sessions
  • Superior Color Accuracy and HDR Performance: 99% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage and Delta E <2 color difference deliver astonishing HDR performance with true-to-life colors

This is intended to reduce a known OLED/VRR comfort issue, not guarantee that every user will see no flicker. Sensitivity varies by person and by the frame-rate and VRR behavior of each game.

Connectivity and console support

The PG27UCDM includes HDMI 2.1 for modern consoles, USB-C with 90W Power Delivery, and an integrated USB hub. USB-C can be useful for a compatible laptop that needs video output and charging, although 90W is not automatically equivalent to a full docking station. Check the laptop’s charging requirements, simultaneous video-and-data behavior, downstream USB layout, KVM behavior, and cable capabilities before treating it as a desktop replacement.

For consoles, ASUS states that the HDMI 2.1 connection supports 4K at 120Hz on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, along with Auto Low Latency Mode. ASUS also says the ROG Ally X can receive video and power through USB-C. Nintendo Switch 2 output is listed by ASUS as capped at 60fps at 4K.

Consequently, the 240Hz headline is primarily a PC-gaming advantage. Console-only buyers will mainly use the monitor as a 4K/120Hz OLED display.

OLED protection and burn-in considerations

ASUS equips the monitor with OLED Care Pro features including pixel cleaning, a screen saver, taskbar detection, pixel-shifting behavior referenced in ASUS materials, and a Neo Proximity Sensor. The sensor detects when the user leaves and switches the screen to a black image, restoring it when the user returns.

The monitor also uses a custom heatsink and internal airflow design. ASUS product materials show a three-year warranty claim, but warranty duration, registration rules, exclusions, and burn-in coverage vary by market and purchase channel. Verify the exact terms for your country before buying.

These features reduce risk; they do not make permanent image retention impossible. Long periods of static desktop interfaces, spreadsheets, news tickers, or fixed game HUDs remain a reason to use OLED-care routines and avoid disabling automatic maintenance casually. Temporary image retention and permanent burn-in are not identical, but persistent static patterns can become a long-term concern.

Physical features include height adjustment from 0 to 110mm, ±30° swivel, ±90° pivot, and −5° to +20° tilt. The monitor supports VESA mounting and includes a tripod socket for streaming or camera mounting.

Those specifications do not automatically make it a professional reference monitor. Independent calibration, brightness behavior, tone mapping, color-management support, and the requirements of the specific production workflow still matter. OLED HDR certification also does not fully describe sustained full-screen brightness, automatic brightness limiting, or performance in a bright office.

Who should buy it?

  • High-end PC gamers: A strong fit if your GPU can exploit high-refresh 4K and your system supports the required DisplayPort mode.
  • Compact-desk enthusiasts: The 27-inch footprint delivers flagship pixel density without moving to a larger 32-inch display.
  • Hybrid gamers and creators: The combination of 4K sharpness, OLED contrast, wide-gamut color, USB-C, and flexible ergonomics is unusually versatile.

Who should skip it?

  • Buyers whose systems usually run below 120fps at 4K
  • Console-only shoppers who do not need more than 4K/120Hz
  • Users who want a larger 32-inch image
  • Office users with heavy static-content workloads who do not want to manage OLED-care routines
  • Buyers who need stronger sustained full-screen brightness in a bright room
  • Anyone satisfied with a less expensive 1440p OLED or 4K high-refresh LCD

What to compare before purchasing

Alternative categories include 32-inch 4K/240Hz OLED monitors for a larger image, 27-inch 1440p/240Hz or 360Hz OLED models for easier high-frame-rate gaming, 4K/144–165Hz OLED monitors for potentially better value, and high-refresh LCDs for buyers prioritizing sustained brightness and avoiding OLED burn-in concerns.
