The audioconverterleui.dll error usually means that Microsoft Plus. for Windows XP, or an older application using its MP3 Audio Converter component, is incomplete or damaged. The safest repair is to restore the complete parent software, not to download this DLL separately.

The exact version, file size, hash, exports, dependencies, architecture, and installation path have not been verified here. Do not assume that a copy found online is the correct file.
The program requesting the DLL is usually the Plus. MP3 Audio Converter component or an older application that installed or retained part of Microsoft Plus.. If a game or unrelated program displays the message, identify the requesting executable before applying a game-specific repair. A generic DLL error page can misidentify the actual parent program.
Fix 1: Reinstall Microsoft Plus. or the original application
This is the most likely and safest fix.
If you still have the Plus. installation media
- Close the program showing the error.
- Open Settings with Windows key + I.
- Select Apps, then Installed apps on Windows 11. On Windows 10, select Apps and features.
- Search for Microsoft Plus., Plus. for Windows XP, or the application that displays the error.
- If it is listed, select the three-dot menu on Windows 11, or select the application on Windows 10, and choose Uninstall.
- Restart Windows.
- Insert the original Plus. CD or mount the legitimate installation image.
- Run the installer from that media. If Windows blocks the installer, right-click it, choose Properties, select Unblock if that option is present, and select Apply.
- Right-click the installer and choose Run as administrator.
- Complete the installation and restart the computer.
- Open the original application and test the MP3 converter feature.
If the installer offers Repair, choose it before uninstalling. A repair can restore missing files while preserving the existing installation.
If the application was copied from another computer
Remove the copied installation and reinstall it from the original CD, backup, or authorized installation source. Copying an executable and one DLL often omits registry entries, codecs, licensing data, configuration files, and other dependencies.
Do not copy audioconverterleui.dll from another computer unless it came from a verified installation of the same product and is being restored as part of that trusted installation. Even then, reinstalling the complete product is more reliable.
How to tell whether this worked
The repair succeeded if the original application starts without the missing-file message and the MP3 converter opens normally. If the message changes to a bad-image or dependency error, the DLL may now be present but incompatible or unable to load. Continue with the checks below rather than downloading another copy.
Fix 2: Check Windows Security quarantine
Security software may have removed an old application file. Older software can also trigger detections because it was designed for an earlier Windows environment.

- Select Start, type Windows Security, and open it.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Review recent entries for the Plus. installation directory or
audioconverterleui.dll. - Open an entry to review its file path and detection details.
- Restore the file only if all of the following are true:
- the file came from your original, trusted Plus. installation;
- the installation media and parent application are legitimate;
- you have confirmed that the detection is a false positive.
- Update Windows Security.
- Run a full scan after restoring or reinstalling the software.
Do not create a broad antivirus exclusion just to make the error disappear. If the file is quarantined again, leave it isolated and obtain a clean copy of the complete application from its original source.

Fix 3: Check whether the file is present and trusted
Before replacing anything, determine whether the error concerns an absent file or a file that cannot load.
- Identify the program that displays the message.
- Right-click its shortcut and select Properties.
- Select Open file location.
- Look for
audioconverterleui.dllin the application’s installation directory. - If it is present, right-click it, select Properties, and review the Digital Signatures tab if one exists.
- Check the Details tab for the product and publisher information.
- Compare the file’s location with the directory used by the trusted Plus. installation.
A digital signature is not confirmed for this file, so the absence of a signature alone does not prove that the file is malicious. However, a DLL found in a temporary folder, a downloads folder, or an unexpected system directory deserves caution.

The correct location is normally the directory used by the parent application, but the exact path for this file has not been verified.
Fix 4: Account for 32-bit and 64-bit compatibility
Microsoft Plus. for Windows XP is legacy software, principally associated with the 32-bit XP era. A 32-bit application running on 64-bit Windows normally requires 32-bit versions of its own dependencies.
This does not mean you should guess between System32 and SysWOW64. Those folders are managed Windows locations, and placing an arbitrary DLL in either one can create new loader failures or security problems.

To identify the application architecture:
- Open Task Manager with Ctrl + Shift + Esc.
- Select Details.
- Start the affected application if possible.
- Locate its executable.
- On some Windows versions, a 32-bit process is marked with a suffix such as 32. If that label is unavailable, inspect the application documentation or use the original installer information.
- Reinstall the application using its original package rather than mixing files from different architectures.
An error such as 0xc000007b can indicate a 32-bit and 64-bit mismatch, a damaged dependency, or another loader problem. It does not prove that audioconverterleui.dll itself is corrupt.

Fix 5: Repair Windows components with DISM and SFC
Use these commands when other Windows components also appear damaged, system files are failing, or Windows has experienced broader corruption. They are not expected to recreate a Plus.-specific application DLL unless that file is part of the Windows component store.
- Select Start.
- Type Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.
- Select Yes at the User Account Control prompt.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for the command to finish. Do not close the window while it is running.
- Run:
sfc /scannow
- Wait until verification reaches 100 percent.
- Restart Windows.
- Test the original application again.
DISM repairs the Windows image, while SFC checks protected Windows system files. If SFC reports that it repaired files, restart and test. If both commands complete without fixing the application, return to the Plus. installer because these tools generally do not supply application-specific files.

Fix 6: Use System Restore after a recent system change
System Restore can help if the error started immediately after software removal, a driver installation, or another system change.
- Select Start and type Create a restore point.
- Open the result.
- Select System Restore.
- Choose Next.
- Select a restore point dated before the error began.
- Select Scan for affected programs to review possible changes.
- Select Next, then Finish.
- Allow Windows to restart and complete the operation.
- Test the original application.
System Restore can remove applications and drivers installed after the selected restore point. It does not function as a replacement for reinstalling Plus., and it cannot help if no suitable restore point exists. Review Microsoft’s System Restore guidance before proceeding.

Fix 7: Check drivers only when the evidence points there
A display, audio, or storage driver is not the normal source of audioconverterleui.dll, but a bad-image error or a wider application failure can justify checking drivers.

- Expand Sound, video and game controllers, Display adapters, and any category showing a warning icon.
- Right-click the relevant device and select Properties.
- Review the General tab for an error message.
- Select the Driver tab and note the provider and date.
- Use Update Driver, or download the driver from the hardware manufacturer.
- Restart Windows and test the application.
Do not remove a working driver solely because this DLL is missing. Driver changes are secondary to restoring the Plus. installation.

Do not register this DLL with regsvr32
regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that provide a self-registration entry point, typically COM or ActiveX components. A user-interface or runtime DLL does not automatically support registration.
Avoid running:
regsvr32 audioconverterleui.dll
It may produce an entry-point or registration error, and it will not restore missing dependencies. It also cannot repair a file that was never installed.
Microsoft documents the regsvr32 command. Follow that documentation only when the software vendor specifically says that its component must be registered.
Avoid random DLL download sites
Do not download audioconverterleui.dll from an unaffiliated DLL site and copy it into a Windows folder. That approach can provide:
- malware or tampered code;
- the wrong version;
- the wrong architecture;
- a file with missing dependencies;
- a DLL that does not match the parent application;
- a new loader failure that hides the original problem.
The safe sources are the original Microsoft Plus. installation CD, a trusted backup made from that installation, or an authorized Microsoft source where the complete product is legitimately available. There is no verified current official Microsoft download for this individual DLL.

If reinstalling Plus. does not fix the error
Work through these checks:
- Open the application’s installation directory and confirm that the installer actually placed its files there.
- Check Windows Security protection history again.
- Open Event Viewer by selecting Start, typing Event Viewer, and opening it.
- Select Windows Logs, then Application.
- Look for an error at the time of the failed launch.
- Record the failing executable and any named dependency.
- Confirm that the application is launching from the expected directory, not an old shortcut pointing to a removed copy.
- Try the program from a separate local Windows profile only after reinstalling and checking file integrity.
- Consider compatibility settings for the old executable: right-click it, select Properties, open Compatibility, and test an appropriate older Windows mode.
- If the program still fails, consult the original product documentation or use dependency analysis performed by a qualified technician.
Microsoft Plus. for Windows XP is obsolete software. Compatibility, activation, codec behavior, licensing, and security behavior on current Windows versions are not guaranteed. The application may remain unusable even after the DLL is correctly restored.
