Autoverse Studios announced an $8 million funding round in August 2024 to develop Auto Legends, a social drag-racing game built around car collecting, tuning and multiplayer competition. A March 2025 report later put the round’s total at $9 million after a further $1 million investment. The game is listed on Steam as coming soon and in closed beta, not as a released title.
Who funded Auto Legends?
GamesBeat reported that White Star Capital led Autoverse Studios’ $8 million round announced in August 2024. The other named participants were Sfermion, RockawayX, Ocular, Sidedoor Ventures, MCE Group, Saison Capital and LiquidX, along with backers from the automotive and games industries. CEO Peter Pham’s first-person announcement also named several investors. These are reported financing details, not audited financial disclosures. GamesBeat’s August 2024 report and Pham’s announcement describe the initial raise.
In March 2025, GamesBeat/VentureBeat reported that Coinbase Ventures’ Base Ecosystem Fund added $1 million, taking the reported total to $9 million. That later figure refers to the reported cumulative funding, not the original August 2024 announcement. The March 2025 follow-up also reported an inaugural NFT mint for early supporters; it does not establish whether a mint or related features remain available now.
What kind of game is Auto Legends?
Auto Legends is a straight-line drag-racing game that extends beyond the race itself. Its current Steam listing describes choosing a starter car, installing performance parts, fine-tuning it and creating a custom design before competing for cash, cars or status. Listed features include matchmaking across straight-line race modes, live spectators, garages, teams, leaderboards and achievements.

GamesBeat’s 2024 coverage described a broader car-culture loop: collecting cars, tuning them with aftermarket parts, meeting other players, racing head-to-head, joining teams and tournaments, and using services such as tuning shops and dealerships. It reported that the game then described licensed cars from seven real-world brands, with more than 50 models and trims, and planned parts from more than 20 brands or manufacturers. Those figures describe the 2024 account, not a verified current in-game catalog. GamesBeat’s report also framed player-created parts and social competition as part of the intended experience.
What does “Web3” mean for the game?
Web3 asset ownership and trading were part of Autoverse’s stated design ambition. In its 2024 report, GamesBeat quoted CEO Peter Pham describing the goal as enabling players to own and trade in-game assets, alongside social gameplay and creator support. The same coverage said optional Web3 features were planned to be accessed on the web.

That is a description of announced plans, not evidence that NFTs, blockchain-based ownership or an in-game trading economy are currently live. The March 2025 report of an early-supporter NFT mint documents an announcement at that time, but does not establish current mint status or how any such assets work in the game today. The present Steam listing describes the game’s racing and customization features without confirming active Web3 functionality.
Is Auto Legends available to play?
As of October 8, 2026, Steam labels Auto Legends “Coming soon” and says it is currently in closed beta. The listing provides a request-access playtest flow and warns that player progress may reset during development. It identifies Autoverse Studios as both developer and publisher and lists Windows and macOS system requirements. A request to join the playtest is not the same as a public release or guaranteed access.

GamesBeat’s 2024 story described a free-to-play release planned for PC, Mac, iOS and Android, with optional Web3 features accessed on the web. That was a historical plan. The current Steam page substantiates a PC and macOS storefront presence, but the sources available here do not establish a current mobile release. Treat mobile availability and the planned Web3 features as unconfirmed unless Autoverse or a current platform listing confirms them.

GamesBeat reported that the development team included people with experience at Cie Games, Glu Mobile, Riot Games, Xbox, EA, Ubisoft and Scopely. It also said Cie Games’ earlier titles Nitto 1320 Legends, Car Town and Racing Rivals collectively reached 140 million players. That reach figure is GamesBeat’s 2024 reporting, not an independently audited measure.

The funding story therefore connects a familiar mobile-and-social games background with a more specific pitch: drag racing as a hub for car collecting, detailed tuning, competition and community. How much of the announced social and asset-ownership vision reaches players remains separate from the funding itself and should be judged against the live game as it becomes available.
