Avalon Reborn is an adventure, RPG, exploration, hardcore and magic-focused pack from Pixel Dream Studios. The official CurseForge project page lists Avalon Reborn-0.1.6.6 as the main release for Minecraft 1.20.1 using Forge, dated October 4, 2026. CurseForge page metadata captured on October 15, 2026, showed 48,911 downloads. Modpacks.ch identifies Forge build 47.4.20 for this release and lists 278 mod projects in the selected pack file.

Check the server-pack version before downloading
A server pack is not automatically interchangeable with every client release. CurseForge exposes a “Minecraft 1.20 Server Packs” area, and one listed archive is named AvalonReborn_0.2_SP_server_pack.zip. That archive is 720.63 MB and is identified for Minecraft 1.20.1 Forge, but its filename identifies the 0.2 server pack, while the current project page lists 0.1.6.6 as the main release.

Do not silently pair that archived 0.2 archive with 0.1.6.6 clients. Before downloading, compare all three identifiers:
- the Avalon Reborn release number;
- the Minecraft version, currently 1.20.1; and
- the Forge build or loader requirement, currently reported as 47.4.20 for 0.1.6.6.
Choose a server-pack filename and release note that match the client version you intend to run. If the project does not yet expose a matching server archive for your chosen release, wait for one or follow the project’s own self-hosting instructions rather than improvising with an older archive.
Choose between self-hosting and managed hosting
Self-hosting gives you control over files, updates, backups, firewall rules and hardware. The trade-off is that you must maintain the Java server, expose a reachable network endpoint and troubleshoot every startup or mod mismatch yourself. You pay a recurring fee in exchange for the control panel, hosted network endpoint and provider assistance.

Self-hosted setup: complete procedure
1. Make a version checklist first
Write down the exact client release, Minecraft version and Forge build before touching the server. For the current release, the checklist is Avalon Reborn-0.1.6.6, Minecraft 1.20.1 and Forge 47.4.20. Keep this note with the server backups so a future upgrade does not accidentally mix files from different releases.

2. Install and test the client profile
- Install the official CurseForge app or the launcher workflow recommended by the pack.
- Locate Avalon Reborn-0.1.6.6 and create a profile for Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge.
- Launch the profile once and reach the title screen. This confirms that the desktop installation can resolve its files before you troubleshoot a server.
- Have every player record the same release number and loader version. A client that launches a different Avalon Reborn file is not ready to join.
3. Download the matching server pack
Use the project’s server-pack listing and its linked self-hosting guide. Verify the release number in the archive filename and release notes, not just the Minecraft version. The existence of a 1.20.1 label alone does not prove that an archive matches 0.1.6.6.

Treat the dedicated server archive as the authoritative starting point.
4. Create a clean, dedicated server directory
- Create a new directory used only for Avalon Reborn. Do not extract over an existing vanilla server or your desktop CurseForge instance.
- Copy the downloaded server-pack ZIP into that directory and extract it there.
- Keep the original ZIP outside the live world directory as an unmodified recovery copy.
- Check that the extracted files are at the directory’s top level rather than buried inside an extra nested folder created by the archive utility.
A clean directory makes it easier to identify which files belong to the pack, restore a known-good state and compare changes after an update.
5. Run the supplied Forge launcher or script
Open the self-hosting instructions included with the pack and use the supplied Forge server script or launcher. Do not substitute a vanilla server executable. The first run may generate additional libraries, configuration files and the EULA file required by Minecraft.
Run the process from the server directory so relative paths resolve correctly. Keep the console visible on the first launch; closing it immediately can hide a missing dependency or an incorrect Java/Forge invocation.

6. Accept the EULA when prompted
If the first run creates eula.txt, stop the process, read the license text, and change the EULA setting only if you agree to it. Start the supplied launcher again after saving the change. The server cannot complete a normal startup while the EULA remains unaccepted.
7. Configure server.properties
After the initial files are generated, open server.properties in a plain-text editor. Set the options that matter to your group:
- Port and network binding: choose the port your firewall and router will expose, if you are hosting from home. Use one consistent value when giving the address to players.
- Difficulty: select the difficulty that fits Avalon Reborn’s intended challenge. Hardcore-oriented packs can punish a casual setting change, so agree on it before creating the world.
- Whitelist: enable the whitelist for a private group and add each player’s exact Minecraft name before opening the server publicly.
- World and gameplay settings: review the level name, game mode, spawn protection and other options you want fixed before the world is generated.
- Message and access settings: set the server name or message of the day so friends can identify the correct endpoint.
Stop the server before editing this file, save it, then start the server again. Changing settings while the process is running can be overwritten when the server saves its current state.
8. Complete a first-boot test
Watch the console from a cold start until Forge finishes loading. Look for missing-file messages, dependency errors, duplicate-mod warnings, a wrong Minecraft version or a Forge build mismatch. A successful window that closes immediately is not a successful server; keep reading until the launcher reports that the server is ready for connections.

- Connect, move through several areas and open the major menus supplied by the pack.
- Stop the server using its normal console command rather than killing the process.
- Start it again and confirm that the world, player inventory and configuration persist.
Only invite the rest of the group after this repeat-start test passes. It separates installation problems from network problems.

9. Make the address reachable
For a home server, allow the chosen port through the host computer’s firewall and configure the router to forward that port to the server machine. Give friends the public address and port, while keeping your private local address private. If your internet provider uses carrier-grade NAT or blocks inbound connections, ordinary forwarding may not work; use a hosting service or another network solution instead of exposing random ports.
10. Back up before anyone plays seriously
Stop the server cleanly, copy the world directory and the server configuration to a separate storage location, and label the backup with the Avalon Reborn release. Include the pack ZIP and any custom configuration changes. Keep more than one restore point so a corrupted world or a failed update does not leave you with only the newest copy.
Using CurseForge managed hosting
Managed hosting is the shortest route when you do not want to configure a router or maintain a Java process. The documented CurseForge flow depends on a matching server pack; it is not a way to convert an arbitrary client profile automatically.

The advertised player ranges are plan descriptions, not a guarantee that every Avalon Reborn world will run smoothly at the upper end. Exploration-heavy worlds, frequent chunk generation and large automation builds can require more CPU time or memory than a quiet base with the same number of players. Start with a plan that leaves headroom, then use the provider’s monitoring and console to decide whether a change is justified.

How much RAM does Avalon Reborn need?
No published Avalon Reborn figure guarantees a specific heap size for every world. The pack contains 278 mod projects, but that number alone cannot translate into a reliable RAM target. Concurrent players, loaded chunks, entity counts, world-generation activity and server-side configuration all change the result.
Use the hosted tiers as capacity choices rather than benchmarks: 4 GB is the provider’s 1–5-player Iron description, 8 GB is its 6–15-player Gold description, and 12 GB is its 16–25-player Diamond description. For self-hosting, reserve memory for the operating system and other applications, launch with a conservative allocation, and increase it only when logs or monitoring show memory pressure. Giving Java every byte can make the operating system unstable and does not fix a CPU-bound tick rate.
When judging capacity, watch for repeatable symptoms:
- the server log reports allocation failures or frequent garbage-collection pauses;
- players see delayed block updates while the process has plenty of unused memory, indicating a CPU or world-generation bottleneck instead;
- lag appears only when several players explore different areas, pointing to chunk generation and storage throughput;
- the machine swaps or becomes unresponsive because the Java heap leaves no room for the operating system.
Change one variable at a time and test with the same number of players and similar activity. A larger allocation is not a substitute for the correct Forge release or a clean server pack.
Get friends onto the exact same installation
Manual installation
- Tell each player to install Avalon Reborn-0.1.6.6 for Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge.
- Have them launch the profile once, then close the game before joining.
- Send the server address and port privately.
- Keep the whitelist enabled and add their exact in-game names.
- Ask players to report the full error text if they cannot connect; “incompatible version” usually means the release or loader differs.
Do not distribute a random client folder as a substitute for a proper profile. Players should use the same pack release and loader so that registry IDs, configs and dependencies line up.

For a group that wants a quick invite flow and no router administration, use CurseForge’s managed-server workflow, verify the exact server-pack filename, and choose a plan based on concurrent players and observed workload rather than the 278-mod count alone. In either case, the non-negotiable rule is exact version matching: Avalon Reborn release, Minecraft 1.20.1 and the required Forge build must agree on the server and every client.
