Seven Havens Book 1 is currently rolling out on Paramount+: its first three episodes premiered October 9, 2026, with additional episode groups scheduled for October 16, 23 and 30. Paramount has also renewed Books 3 and 4, but has not announced dates for those books.

This is a continuity order, not a release-date order. It keeps each Avatar’s era in sequence and prevents an adaptation or side project from interrupting the central story.
1. Start with Avatar: The Last Airbender
The original animated series introduces the world’s bending system, the Avatar’s responsibilities and the conflict that drives every later story. Aang, the last Air Nomad and current Avatar, awakens after a century away to find the world under pressure from the Fire Nation. The three-season run is a complete narrative, so new viewers should watch all 61 episodes before moving on.

Why it comes first
The Legend of Korra assumes that you understand the original Avatar cycle, the political consequences of Aang’s choices and the relationships among the original characters. Watching the first series in full also gives later references their intended weight. You do not need to insert any film or comic between its seasons.
How long is the original series?
Nickelodeon identifies 61 episodes across three seasons, released between February 2005 and July 2008. Episode lengths and platform presentation can vary, but the story order is simply the season-and-episode order used by the service carrying the series in your territory.
Where the new Aang movie fits
Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender belongs after the original animated series because it returns to Aang and his friends as adults. Paramount announced a global Paramount+ premiere for July 25, 2026, with a cast and creative team depicting the original Gaang’s adult lives. As of October 2026, that announced premiere date has passed, although the title shown in a local catalog can still depend on territory and licensing.

You can. Placing the film immediately after the original series is the most natural way to see the original team’s next chapter before jumping ahead to Korra’s era. It is not required to understand the basic premise of The Legend of Korra, however, so viewers focused only on the main succession of Avatars can go directly from Aang’s series to Korra.
Two practical sequences
- Core continuity: Avatar: The Last Airbender → The Legend of Korra → Avatar: Seven Havens.
- Expanded animated route: Avatar: The Last Airbender → Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender → The Legend of Korra → Avatar: Seven Havens.
The movie is a return to the original cast, while Seven Havens is a forward-moving sequel after Korra. Treating them as interchangeable can make the timeline seem more complicated than it is.

2. Continue with The Legend of Korra
The Legend of Korra is the next major animated story in the Avatar timeline. Korra is the Avatar who follows Aang, and her series explores a more industrial, politically complex world shaped by the events of the original show. Watch Korra after finishing Aang’s series; if you choose to include the adult-Gaang film, watch that first.
Why Korra must come before Seven Havens
Paramount and Nickelodeon describe Seven Havens as the new Avatar story after Korra. That makes Korra the direct predecessor in continuity. Skipping Korra would remove the era that establishes the world Pavi inherits, so a first-time viewer should not begin with Seven Havens simply because it is the newest release.

Avatar: Seven Havens follows Pavi, a young Earthbender who discovers that she is the Avatar after Korra. Her long-lost twin, Nisha, is drawn into the same conflict as human and spirit enemies pursue them. The sisters seek to save the Seven Havens in a world reshaped by a cataclysm.
What has premiered?
Paramount’s September 10, 2026 release scheduled Book 1 as four weekly drops on Paramount+:

The original 2025 announcement described Book 1 and Book 2 as 13 half-hour episodes each, for 26 planned episodes. On October 10, Paramount reported the first three Book 1 episodes had premiered and announced renewals for Books 3 and 4. No dates for Books 2–4 were given in that announcement, so do not assume that all four books are available or that their release pattern will match Book 1.

Is Seven Havens out yet?
Yes, but only the portion released so far. Book 1 began its Paramount+ rollout on October 9, 2026. The remaining Book 1 groups were scheduled for October 16, 23 and 30 rather than arriving as one complete batch. A service’s catalog may show different timing or access by country, so verify the listing in your region before planning a marathon.
Where the 2010 live-action film belongs
The 2010 live-action The Last Airbender adapts the premise of the original animated series. It is not a sequel between Aang, Korra and Pavi, and it does not need to be inserted into the animated watch order.
Two ways to use it
- Skip it for the core story: Watch the animated series, Korra and Seven Havens without interruption.
- Watch it as an adaptation comparison: Finish the animated original first, then view the live-action film separately so you can recognize which premise and characters it adapts.
Keeping the film outside the continuity list avoids implying that its version of events leads into Korra or Seven Havens.
Continuity order versus release order
Release order answers “what became available first,” while continuity order answers “what happens next in the fictional world.” For this franchise, continuity order is more useful for a first viewing:
- Watch the original animated series (2005–2008).
- Add the adult-Gaang film if you want that optional bridge from Aang’s era.
- Watch The Legend of Korra.
- Watch Seven Havens as its episodes release.
- View the 2010 live-action film separately, whenever you want an adaptation comparison.
The film’s later release date does not make it a sequel to Korra, and the newest series does not replace Korra as the second step in the Avatar succession.

What about Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos?
Paramount announced Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos alongside the October 10, 2026 Seven Havens update. The cited announcement does not establish where Kuruk’s story sits relative to Aang, Korra or Pavi, nor does it provide a release date. For now, leave it out of a definitive watch order. Once an official release and chronology are provided, it can be placed according to that information rather than guesswork.

Graphic novels and YA novels expand the franchise, but they are not required steps in the screen watch order. Nickelodeon reported nearly three million graphic-novel copies sold and more than 700,000 YA-novel copies sold in print and audiobook, with the YA novels spending more than 25 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list. Those are company-published figures, not independently audited sales totals.
Publishers associated with the graphic-novel program include Dark Horse, Random House, Abrams, Insight Editions and Thunder Bay. Use the books as optional follow-up reading after the animated series rather than inserting them between episodes unless a specific volume’s placement matters to you.
Common watch-order mistakes
Starting with Seven Havens because it is new
The newest series introduces Pavi, but it follows Korra’s era. Start with Aang, then Korra, so the successor-Avatar structure and the changed world are clear.

Treating the live-action film as a sequel
The 2010 film adapts the original premise. It is a separate version, not a bridge to Korra.

Assuming the Aang movie is mandatory
The adult-Gaang feature is relevant to the original characters but is optional for understanding the Korra-to-Seven-Havens sequence.
Assuming all Seven Havens books are available
Only the Book 1 rollout was scheduled in the cited Paramount release. Books 3 and 4 were announced as renewals, but dates for Books 2–4 remain unstated there.
Using a different country’s streaming listing
Paramount announced global premieres on Paramount+, yet catalog access and timing can vary by territory. Check the service’s local listing before promising that a particular episode or film is available.
