avrospell.dll is a third-party component used by OmicronLab’s Avro Keyboard and Avro Spell Checker for Windows. If Windows says the file is missing, was not found, or could not be loaded, repair Avro Keyboard rather than copying a DLL into a Windows system folder.

Avro Keyboard is Bangla-typing software with a built-in Bangla spell checker. The file is not part of Windows, and there is no reason to expect it in C:WindowsSystem32 or C:WindowsSysWOW64.

What avrospell.dll is

avrospell.dll is identified in public file inventories as the core library for Avro Spell Checker. Those inventories report a version of 1.1.0.0, a 32-bit component, and a file size of approximately 1.8 MB. OmicronLab does not currently publish a detailed DLL manifest, hash, or exported-function list, so treat those details as independently reported rather than vendor-confirmed.

Question Answer
Associated software OmicronLab Avro Keyboard and Avro Spell Checker
Windows system file No
Expected location The Avro installation directory
Safest repair Repair or reinstall the complete Avro Keyboard package
Current vendor-listed Windows release Avro Keyboard 5.6.0
Should you download the DLL separately No

The official OmicronLab download page is the correct source for the complete Windows installer. Its version history lists Avro Keyboard 5.6.0 as the current Windows release, although its age means compatibility with every current Windows build should be assessed after installation.

What the error means

These messages usually mean that Avro Keyboard tried to load one of its own components and Windows could not complete the request:

  • “The program can’t start because avrospell.dll is missing from your computer.”
  • “The specified module could not be found.”
  • “Error loading avrospell.dll.”
  • “The code execution cannot proceed because avrospell.dll was not found.”
  • “avrospell.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.”

The wording is not always precise. “The specified module could not be found” can mean that avrospell.dll is missing, but it can also mean that a dependency used by the DLL is unavailable. These exact strings are reported by third-party DLL-reference pages rather than confirmed in an OmicronLab support document.

The most likely causes are:

  1. An incomplete or damaged Avro installation.
  2. Antivirus quarantine or deletion.
  3. Mixed or incorrect Avro files.
  4. A missing dependency.
  5. A corrupt Windows component store or damaged disk.
  6. A tampered or malicious copy outside the normal Avro directory.

Fix 1: Repair or reinstall Avro Keyboard

This is the correct first fix because avrospell.dll belongs to the Avro installation. Reinstalling the complete package restores the DLL together with the executable, configuration files, and any dependencies that belong with it.

If Avro is still installed

  1. Save your work and close Avro Keyboard.
  2. Look at the notification area near the clock.
  3. Right-click the Avro icon and exit it if an exit command is available.
  4. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
  5. In Processes, look for Avro Keyboard or Avro-related processes.
  6. Select the process and choose End task only if Avro did not close normally.
  7. Open Settings.
  8. Select Apps, then Installed apps on Windows 11. On Windows 10, open Apps & features.
  9. Find Avro Keyboard.
  10. Select the three-dot menu, choose Uninstall, and follow the installer.
  11. Restart Windows if prompted.
  12. Download the complete installer from OmicronLab’s official Avro Keyboard download page.
  13. Right-click the installer and select Run as administrator.
  14. Complete the installation using the default location unless you have a specific reason to change it.
  15. Start Avro Keyboard and test typing and spell checking.

If the installed program offers Modify, Repair, or a maintenance option instead of a normal reinstall, use that first. If repair is unavailable or the error returns, uninstall and reinstall the full package.

How to tell whether it worked

Avro should start without the missing-file message, its tray icon should appear, and the spell-checker function should respond normally. If the installer itself fails, note the exact error before trying Windows repair commands. An installer failure points to a broader permissions, storage, security, or compatibility problem.

Do not restore the DLL by downloading an isolated copy. A replacement may have the wrong build, wrong architecture, altered contents, or an incomplete set of dependencies.

Fix 2: Check Windows Security quarantine

Security software can remove or quarantine a file even when the surrounding application is legitimate. Check the quarantine record before assuming that Avro’s installer is defective.

  1. Open the Start menu.
  2. Search for Windows Security and open it.
  3. Select Virus & threat protection.
  4. Choose Protection history.
  5. Review recent detections.
  6. Open any entry that mentions Avro, avrospell.dll, or the Avro installation directory.
  7. Record the detection name, original path, publisher information, and signature details.
  8. Do not immediately choose Restore or Allow on device.

Restoring a file causes it to run again. Only restore it when the original path belongs to the Avro installation, the complete installer came from OmicronLab, and the file’s publisher and signature information are consistent with that installation. If there is any doubt, remove the damaged installation and reinstall Avro from the official vendor source instead.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

After reinstalling, run a scan:

  1. Return to Virus & threat protection.
  2. Select Scan options.
  3. Choose Quick scan for a fast check, or Full scan for a more complete examination.
  4. Select Scan now.

If Defender repeatedly removes the file after a clean installation, do not keep restoring it. Investigate the detection and scan the system for malware.

Fix 3: Check the Avro path and application architecture

A 32-bit DLL must be used by the 32-bit application it was built for. A 64-bit Windows installation can run 32-bit software, so installing 64-bit Windows does not mean that Avro needs a 64-bit avrospell.dll.

Check the installation rather than copying files between folders:

  1. Press Win + S.
  2. Search for Avro Keyboard.
  3. Right-click the result and select Open file location.
  4. Right-click the Avro shortcut and choose Open file location again if it opens a shortcut folder.
  5. Look for avrospell.dll beside the Avro executable or in a related Avro program directory.
  6. Right-click the file, select Properties, and inspect the Details and Digital Signatures tabs when available.
  7. Confirm that the location belongs to Avro and not to a game, temporary folder, browser download directory, or unrelated application.

If the file exists but Avro still cannot load it, the problem may be a missing dependency, a corrupt binary, incompatible files, or insufficient permissions. Reinstalling the matching complete package is safer than moving that file manually.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

If an unrelated game or program reports avrospell.dll, determine why an Avro component is present in that program’s directory. Generic DLL pages sometimes associate files with games without evidence that AvroSpell is game middleware. Do not assume that the unrelated application should receive an Avro DLL.

Fix 4: Investigate dependency errors

A message saying that a module could not be found does not prove that the named DLL is absent. Windows may be unable to load one of the DLL’s dependencies.

Do not install a Visual C++ Redistributable automatically just because a DLL error appeared. No reliable public evidence establishes a specific Visual C++ requirement for avrospell.dll.

Use this approach:

  1. Reinstall Avro first.
  2. If the installer or Windows event information identifies a missing Microsoft runtime, download that runtime only from Microsoft’s official documentation.
  3. Install the runtime that matches the application’s requirements.
  4. Restart Windows.
  5. Test Avro again.

If no specific dependency is identified, avoid collecting runtime packages at random. A clean reinstall of Avro remains the more direct repair.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Fix 5: Repair Windows components with DISM and SFC

DISM and System File Checker repair Windows itself. They do not normally recreate a third-party Avro DLL, so use them when Windows servicing, installation, permissions, or other protected system files also appear damaged.

Run DISM

  1. Right-click Start.
  2. Select Terminal (Admin) or Command Prompt (Admin).
  3. Approve the User Account Control prompt.
  4. Enter:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
  1. Press Enter.
  2. Wait for the operation to complete.
  3. Restart Windows.

Run SFC

Open an elevated Terminal or Command Prompt again and enter:

sfc /scannow

Press Enter and wait until verification reaches 100 percent. Restart the computer, then reinstall or launch Avro again.

Microsoft documents DISM as a tool for repairing the Windows component store and SFC as a tool for checking protected Windows system files. If both commands complete successfully but Avro still reports avrospell.dll, return to the Avro installer rather than repeating the commands indefinitely.

When you are manually repeating SFC and DISM without knowing what changed, Outbyte PC Repair can scan for broader Windows problems and show what needs attention; its free scan identifies issues, while repairs require the full version. It is optional, and reinstalling Avro remains the definitive fix for an Avro-owned DLL.

Fix 6: Update Windows and check drivers only when other symptoms point there

A driver is not the normal owner of avrospell.dll, and Device Manager will not repair a missing Avro application component. Do not use Device Manager as a substitute for reinstalling Avro.

Driver troubleshooting is relevant only if the DLL error began alongside wider symptoms such as system instability, failed application launches, graphics problems, or repeated installer failures.

To check Windows Update:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select Windows Update.
  3. Choose Check for updates.
  4. Install available updates.
  5. Restart Windows.
  6. Test Avro again.

To inspect drivers:

  1. Right-click Start.
  2. Open Device Manager.
  3. Expand the device category related to the wider problem.
  4. Right-click the affected device.
  5. Select Properties and review the General and Driver tabs.
  6. Use Update driver only when a suitable driver is available from Windows or the hardware manufacturer.
  7. Restart and test.

If tracking down stale drivers means hunting through hardware vendors and guessing which package is relevant, Outbyte Driver Updater can scan and identify driver issues; the free scan shows what it finds, while driver installation requires the full version. This is optional and is not the primary repair for an Avro Keyboard DLL.

Fix 7: Test permissions and another Windows profile

If Avro works for one user but not another, the DLL may be intact and the problem may be limited to a damaged profile or per-user configuration.

  1. Create or use another Windows user account.
  2. Sign in to that account.
  3. Launch Avro Keyboard.
  4. Test the spell checker.

If Avro works there, reinstalling the program may not be enough. Check the original profile’s startup entries and per-user configuration, or continue using a clean profile if the problem is isolated.

You can also test permissions by launching Avro normally first, then right-clicking its shortcut and selecting Run as administrator once. If that works only with elevation, inspect the installation directory permissions and reinstall the program to a normal application location. Do not grant broad write access to Windows system directories.

What not to do

Do not copy avrospell.dll into System32

System32 and SysWOW64 are not general-purpose DLL storage. Copying an Avro component there can create version conflicts, confuse troubleshooting, and leave an untracked binary behind.

Do not use regsvr32 as a generic repair

regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that provide registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer. A spell-checker core library is not automatically a self-registering COM component.

If the Avro vendor specifically instructs you to register a particular build, follow that instruction. Otherwise, a command such as this is not a valid repair:

regsvr32 avrospell.dll

A registration failure does not prove that the DLL is corrupt. It may simply mean that the DLL was never designed for registration.

Do not download an isolated DLL

Random DLL download pages can provide malware, an incompatible architecture, an altered file, or a version that does not match the Avro executable. Even a genuine-looking replacement may not fix a missing dependency or damaged installation.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Use OmicronLab’s official Avro Keyboard download page and reinstall the complete package. If the vendor installer is unavailable or fails on your Windows build, preserve the exact error and seek support through the vendor’s official channels rather than assembling DLL files manually.

If nothing above fixes the error

The remaining possibilities are a corrupt disk, a blocked installer, a tampered file, or an obsolete package that is incompatible with the current Windows environment.

Run a full Microsoft Defender scan, check available disk space, and review Event Viewer around the time of the failure. If the problem began immediately after a major system change and the original installer is unavailable, System Restore can be considered as a last resort. It is not the normal solution for a missing third-party DLL.

A file found outside the Avro directory should be treated as suspicious until its path, signature, and provenance are verified. Remove unexplained copies, reinstall Avro from OmicronLab, and test the freshly installed program rather than trying to make the stray file work.

FAQ

Is avrospell.dll a Windows file?

No. It is associated with OmicronLab’s Avro Keyboard and Avro Spell Checker. It should not normally be installed in System32 or SysWOW64.

Which program should I repair?

Repair or reinstall Avro Keyboard, including its spell-checker component. Windows repair tools cannot substitute for reinstalling the application that owns the DLL.

Should I install Visual C++ Redistributables?

Only if a specific installer or dependency error identifies a Microsoft runtime. No reliable public evidence confirms a particular Visual C++ dependency for this file.

Does a 64-bit version of Windows require a 64-bit DLL?

No. Application architecture matters. A 32-bit Avro application should use its matching 32-bit components, even on 64-bit Windows.

Will regsvr32 fix the missing-file message?

Usually not. It is for self-registering DLLs, not generic missing application libraries.

What if antivirus deleted the file?

Check Windows Security → Virus & threat protection → Protection history. Verify the detection and original path, then prefer reinstalling the complete Avro package over restoring an isolated file.

What if SFC reports no problems?

That is expected if Windows is healthy. SFC checks protected Windows files, not Avro’s third-party installation. Reinstall Avro instead.
