Reports of Axies resetting to level 1 surfaced in community posts around 2021, but the available official sources do not confirm a current reset incident or establish a cause. If an Axie’s progression looks wrong, document what you see and contact Axie support; do not transfer the Axie as a supposed fix based on old forum discussions.
What is known about the level-one resets
A 2021 Axie community search result described an Axie returning to level 1 after an update and advised affected players to open a support ticket titled “Axie Level Reset.” That is community-reported guidance, not an official confirmation that an update caused the behavior. A separate 2021 community result associated level-one resets with changes in ownership. Neither report establishes that the same issue is happening now or that the reports share a cause.
Do not confuse these reports with Axie’s June 2022 Origin phase plan, which described resets to MMR, Moonshards, Runes/Charms, and Adventure progress—not individual Axie levels. The plan is available in Axie’s Origin phase plan.
How current AXP progression is described
Axie Infinity’s official AXP announcement, published July 18, 2023, says that “AXP is axie-bound and cannot be transferred between axies.” It describes ascension as syncing an Axie’s off-chain level on-chain. This is relevant context for understanding current progression, but it does not explain the older reset reports or prove that those reports involved AXP.

The same 2023 announcement gives these progression figures:
| Milestone | AXP stated in the July 18, 2023 announcement |
|---|---|
| First ascension | 13,310 total AXP |
| Second ascension | 110,480 total AXP |
| Third ascension | 334,170 total AXP |
| Level 30 | 457,960 total AXP |
These are figures from the 2023 announcement; check Axie’s current guidance before relying on them as today’s mechanics. Sky Mavis’s Origins gameplay guide, updated June 20, 2024, says leveling or ascending improves stats or effects and describes one HP per level, plus two additional HP for every ten levels. Those gameplay details do not verify a reset bug.

What to do if an Axie appears to be level 1
- Record the details. Note the date, account, affected Axie, game mode, displayed level, and whether the Axie was recently updated or changed ownership. Include what you expected to see and what the game currently shows.
- Check which progression system you mean. Distinguish an Axie’s AXP and ascension progression from other game or account progress. The historical reports do not establish that an apparent level change and an ownership change have one shared explanation.
- Contact Axie support. Sky Mavis’s Origins overview, updated January 7, 2026, directs players to support specialists when the knowledge base does not resolve a problem. Use that support route, explain the observed level, and attach your recorded details.
The “Axie Level Reset” ticket title comes from a 2021 community post, not a verified current developer instruction. Use the current support route rather than treating that old wording as a required ticket format. Do not transfer an Axie to try to restore its level: an old community discussion mentioning ownership changes is not evidence that a transfer is a safe repair.

Axie Origins is a digital game, and Sky Mavis says it is free to play on Android, PC, and MacOS, with three free non-NFT starter Axies. No hardware, accessory, or optimization tool is shown to restore game-account progression. For a level discrepancy, support escalation is the relevant next step.
