The AYANEO Gaming Pad is an announced Android gaming tablet with an unusually large 8.3-inch 3:2 display, a 1440P resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and an Explorer Edition with a transparent glass rear cover. It was unveiled at GDC in March 2025, but AYANEO’s official product page still lists it as Coming Soon. Price, release date, memory, storage, battery capacity, and final retail availability remain undisclosed in the official materials reviewed.
That makes the Gaming Pad an interesting product to watch rather than a confirmed purchase recommendation. Its tablet-sized screen and Snapdragon G3 Gen 3 platform could make it compelling for Android games, emulation, cloud gaming, and remote play—but buyers will need a separate controller, and independent performance testing is not yet available.

What is the AYANEO Gaming Pad?
Despite its name, the AYANEO Gaming Pad is better understood as an Android gaming tablet than as a conventional handheld console. It does not have permanently attached analog sticks, triggers, shoulder buttons, or a built-in grip. Instead, AYANEO describes it as a large-screen device designed to work with separate controllers, keyboards, mice, and other peripherals.
That distinction matters. A controller-integrated handheld is ready to play immediately and is easier to carry, while the Gaming Pad should offer a larger, more flexible display at the cost of an additional accessory and a less compact setup. It appears best suited to couch gaming, desk use, travel with a Bluetooth or USB-C controller, cloud gaming, remote play, and emulation.

These details come from AYANEO’s official announcement and Qualcomm’s device listing. AYANEO’s Chinese listing refers to the panel as 2K, but the English announcement specifies 1440P; 1440P is the clearer term to use here.
What Snapdragon G3 Gen 3 means
The Snapdragon G3 Gen 3 is Qualcomm’s gaming-focused mobile platform, designed for demanding Android and cross-platform games. Qualcomm lists features including hardware-accelerated ray tracing and Snapdragon Game Super Resolution, while AYANEO identifies the Gaming Pad as the first device using the platform. Qualcomm also provides context in its G-series announcement and G3 Gen 3 product brief.
AYANEO claims a 30% CPU improvement and a 28% GPU improvement over the previous generation. Those are vendor generation-over-generation claims, not independent Gaming Pad benchmark results. Another AYANEO version describes the GPU figure in terms of efficiency, so it is safer to attribute the claim than to present it as a measured performance result.
Ray tracing support does not mean every Android game uses ray tracing, nor does it establish that demanding titles will run at 1440P and 120 frames per second. Similarly, Snapdragon Game Super Resolution may improve perceived image quality or reduce rendering demands, but it does not guarantee native 1440P output. Wi-Fi 7 could benefit cloud gaming and remote play, but only where the router, local network, and streaming service support the relevant standard.

- PTM7950 is a highly thermally conductive Phase Change Material (PCM) that lasts longer and is more effective than tradiational thermal paste.
- Size 40x80x0.25mm, Phase change, Thermal Conductivity: 8W/m.K,
- PTM7950 is a proprietary material that provides superior reliability and maintains low thermal impedance (<0.06K·cm²/W @ 30Psi), making the PTM7950 series desirable for high performance integrated circuit devices.
- PTM7950, based on a novel polymer PCM system, exhibits excellent interface wetability during typical operating temperature ranges, resulting in extremely low surface contact resistance.
- Package include: 1x Thermal Pad 40x80x0.25mm, 1x Phillips Screwdriver, 1x Cleaning Wipe, 1x Spatula, Finger gloves, 1x Cleaning Brush
Why the 8.3-inch 1440P/120Hz screen matters
The display is the Gaming Pad’s clearest differentiator. At 8.3 inches, it should provide substantially more viewing area than most controller-integrated Android handhelds. The 1440P resolution can make text, menus, game interfaces, and streamed content look sharper than comparable 1080P panels.
A 120Hz panel can also make supported games, scrolling, menus, and remote-play sessions feel smoother. But refresh rate and frame rate are different: the screen can refresh at 120Hz while a game is capped at 30 or 60fps. Actual performance will depend on the title, graphics settings, thermal limits, drivers, emulator, and power mode.

The 3:2 aspect ratio is useful for general Android apps, productivity, and some emulation systems. It is less natural for modern 16:9 games and video, which may display with black bars or unusual framing. It also does not guarantee support for variable refresh rate, HDR, high brightness, fast response times, or a high touch-sampling rate. AYANEO has not specified those characteristics in the reviewed sources. The panel is an LCD, not an OLED display.
Transparent Explorer Edition design
The Explorer Edition combines a transparent glass rear cover with a CNC-machined metal frame. AYANEO presents the design as a technology-inspired feature, making the tablet visually distinctive compared with ordinary Android gaming devices.
However, the official materials do not establish whether the transparent model is available in every region, whether it has the same internals as an opaque version, or whether it costs more. They also do not answer practical questions about weight, fingerprints, scratches, cracking, case compatibility, heat transfer, or repair costs. The transparent back is therefore a design attraction—not evidence of better cooling, durability, or ergonomics.

Gaming features and likely use cases
Native Android games
The G3 Gen 3 platform is intended to handle demanding Android games, but no game-specific frame-rate results have been published for the Gaming Pad. A large screen may improve visibility, while the separate-controller design lets users choose a preferred control layout.
Emulation
The six-axis gyroscope could be useful for motion-controlled games, racing titles, shooters, and emulation. Compatibility will vary by emulator, game, drivers, and controller software. The platform alone should not be treated as a guarantee of flawless console emulation.
Cloud gaming and remote play
The large 1440P/120Hz display is well matched to streaming and remote play, especially when paired with a stable low-latency connection. Wi-Fi 7 may help in a compatible network environment, but it cannot compensate for weak broadband, router congestion, or service-side frame-rate limits.
Cooling, audio, and cameras
AYANEO lists gaming-grade turbo-fan cooling and describes the system as suitable for sustained performance. No independent measurements of fan noise, temperatures, fan speed, or long-session performance were available in the reviewed sources. Quad-chamber speakers may improve separation, but their sound quality also remains untested.
The 5MP front camera and 50MP autofocus plus 13MP ultra-wide rear cameras are unusual on a gaming tablet. They could make the device more useful for video calls, streaming, or general tablet use, but their real-world image quality and software features have not been established.

Availability, price, and release status
AYANEO unveiled the Gaming Pad on March 17, 2025, at GDC in San Francisco. AYANEO’s later strategy update still described the product as under development and said the compatible telescopic controller would be sold separately.
As of the reviewed official product page, the device remains marked Coming Soon: AYANEO Gaming Pad product page. No verified MSRP, crowdfunding price, shipping date, RAM or storage configuration, battery capacity, dimensions, weight, port list, microSD support, Android version, charger details, or country-specific warranty information was available in those sources.
Readers should separate the announced hardware from purchasable inventory. Unofficial marketplace listings should not be treated as authorized stock, a confirmed pre-order, or proof of global availability.

The Gaming Pad is most compelling for buyers who prioritize a large display, Android flexibility, emulation, streaming, remote play, active cooling, and the ability to select a separate controller. The transparent Explorer Edition may also appeal to buyers who value distinctive industrial design.

Verdict
The AYANEO Gaming Pad is a distinctive concept: a large Android gaming tablet that combines Snapdragon G3 Gen 3, a sharp 1440P/120Hz LCD, active cooling, motion sensing, and an optional transparent glass design. On paper, it could be an excellent couch, streaming, emulation, or media device.
The buying recommendation remains provisional. Until AYANEO publishes a price, complete specifications, controller details, and a shipping date—and independent testing verifies performance, battery life, thermals, and acoustics—the Gaming Pad is best treated as an announced product worth watching. Buyers who need an Android gaming device now should consider an integrated-control alternative such as the Pocket S2, Pocket S2 Pro, or KONKR Pocket FIT instead.
