The organization’s current About Us page says it represents more than 254 facilities in 12 countries; that is the association’s own organizational figure, accessed in 2026, not an independent count or a statistic about the name Aza. Its 2024–2029 strategic plan describes a mission focused on animal wellbeing, public engagement, and conserving wildlife and wild places.

Nigerian internet slang

A 2023 scholarly article on Nigerian internet slang records “aza” as meaning bank account details and says the expression’s origins are unclear. This slang use is separate from the given name. Read the article.

A Chilean steel company

Aceros AZA S.A. is a Chilean steel producer and scrap recycler. Its company history says Metalúrgicas AZA was founded in 1953 and later adopted the Aceros AZA S.A. name; the date is the company’s own historical account, not a name-origin claim.
