That is the figure supported by the available reporting—not the claim of 112 recipients in the UK and US. The report breaks the 86 down into six UK scholarship recipients, nine US scholarship recipients and 71 recipients of the UK bursary.
What the 2025 figures say
PocketGamer.biz reported on September 19, 2025 that BAFTA’s 2025 scholarship programmes awarded over £277,000 to 86 emerging creatives. The recipient count combines two scholarship groups with the UK Prince William BAFTA Bursary Fund:

|---|---|---|
| Scholarship programme | 6 | UK |
| Scholarship programme | 9 | US |
| Prince William BAFTA Bursary Fund | 71 | UK |
| Total reported | 86 | UK and North America, as described in the report |
The report describes the overall reach as the UK and North America, while its breakdown specifically identifies a US scholarship group and UK recipients. Its 86-person total does not support a claim of 112 recipients. The precise source of that higher figure has not been established.

Who the support was intended to reach
The report says the expanded bursaries aim to support aspiring filmmakers, game designers, actors, producers, editors and others. It does not provide complete eligibility criteria, so prospective applicants should consult the current official rules for the relevant scheme rather than assume that a particular role, expense or career stage qualifies.
Financial awards are one part of BAFTA’s career support
BAFTA’s career-development page describes wider support for professionals in film, games and television, including mentoring, coaching, guidance, networking and career-development events. It also describes tailored support for people from under-represented backgrounds, with examples including BAFTA Breakthrough, BFI NETWORK & BAFTA Mentoring, Games Mentoring and BAFTA Elevate. These are programme examples, not benefits established as guaranteed to every scholarship or bursary recipient.

What BAFTA’s CEO said about the support
In the September 19, 2025 PocketGamer.biz report, BAFTA CEO Jane Millichip said: “Our bursaries and scholarships remove the practical and financial barriers that too often stand in the way of talented people starting out in film, games, and television.” The same report quoted her saying: “From driving lessons to specialist equipment and tuition fees, this support can make the difference between someone having to step back from their ambitions or moving forward with confidence.” These quotations are attributed here to Millichip as reported by PocketGamer.biz, not as independently verified statements from a direct BAFTA announcement.

How to read the headline claim
The reported £277,000-plus total and 86 recipients offer a dated account of BAFTA support in 2025. They do not verify the separate headline claim of 112 recipients. The available account also does not establish individual scholarship amounts, complete application criteria or whether the same funding levels and eligible expenses apply in another year. For those details, use the current rules for the specific BAFTA scheme.
