Balbala, the Traitor is a unique boss in the Prison of the Disgraced area of Traitor’s Passage in Act 2. Defeating her drops Balbala’s Barya, the quest item used to enter the Trial of the Sekhemas. Her documented defenses include fire resistance, while cold is listed as a weakness.
Where to find Balbala
Look for Balbala in the Prison of the Disgraced, an area within Traitor’s Passage. Her encounter is associated with the Act 2 quest Ascent to Power.

What to know about the encounter
The available boss reference lists Balbala as dealing physical, chaos, and fire damage. It also lists fire resistance and cold weakness. Treat those as broad damage-profile notes, not a complete guide to her attacks: reliable details on her full move sequence, damage numbers, phase thresholds, or timing windows are not established here.
Coin-rune behavior
One documented mechanic involves a coin rune: after you walk over it, Balbala jumps onto the rune, performs an area slam, destroys the coin, and leaves burning ground. Be prepared to move away from the affected area rather than lingering on the rune.
Balbala’s Barya and the Trial of the Sekhemas
Defeating Balbala awards Balbala’s Barya, a quest item used to enter the Trial of the Sekhemas. A Djinn Barya is the item used to access the trial; the quest Barya is therefore directly tied to this boss and the Ascent to Power progression.
If you have not defeated Balbala or collected the quest Barya and bring another Djinn Barya to the trial, the Ascent to Power reference says Balbala automatically grants the quest item. It also reports a magic Urn Relic reward and a Relic Locker unlock through this quest connection.

The Trial of the Sekhemas uses rooms with different objectives and rewards. Balbala also appears there as a merchant in merchant rooms and at the end of each floor’s reward-cache room. This is her trial merchant appearance, distinct from the boss encounter in Traitor’s Passage.
