Here are 10 practical choices, with their effects, ideal users, and where to get them. Each character has two ring slots, so weigh each option against what that character gives up.
Best general-purpose ring
1. Ring of Protection
Effect: +1 Armour Class and +1 to saving throws. Best for: Almost any character who benefits from being harder to hit and more resistant to effects. Where to get it: Mol rewards it for completing “Steal the Sacred Idol” in the Emerald Grove. The quest-dependent reward makes it a valuable choice, but not an automatic pickup. BG3 Wiki’s Act One item index.
Best rings for weapon damage
2. Caustic Band
Effect: Weapon attacks deal an additional 2 Acid damage. Best for: Characters who make weapon attacks frequently, so the bonus can apply repeatedly. Where to get it: Derryth Bonecloak sells it at the Myconid Colony. The BG3 Wiki ring reference lists its effect, and a secondary best-rings guide also identifies it as an Act 1 pick.
3. Ring of Flinging
Effect: Adds 1d4 to Throw damage. Best for: A character built around throwing weapons or objects; it does not provide a general bonus to ordinary melee attacks. Where to get it: Arron sells it near the Silvanus statue in the Emerald Grove. The Act One index and ring entry list the item, and the secondary guide corroborates its inclusion.

10. Bracing Band
Effect: After the wearer shoves an enemy, they gain +1 Armour Class until their next turn. Where to get it: Sergeant Thrinn rewards it in Grymforge after you return her boots. BG3 Wiki item entry.
How to choose between the similar options
- For straightforward defense: Ring of Protection grants its bonuses without requiring a particular action or build.
- For weapon damage: Caustic Band applies to weapon attacks; Ring of Flinging applies to throws; Strange Conduit Ring applies to weapon attacks only while concentrating on a spell.
- For movement: Crusher’s Ring increases movement speed, while Ring of Jumping grants Enhance Leap. Choose based on whether you need more movement or a jumping option.
- For healing: The Whispering Promise gives a temporary combat buff to the healed creature; Ring of Salving adds hit points to the healing.
- For every character: There are only two ring slots, so a situational bonus should earn its place by fitting the wearer’s regular actions better than an always-useful alternative.
Effects and locations above are drawn primarily from the community-maintained BG3 Wiki Act One index and its ring reference. Item availability and details may change in a future game update.
