The Adamantine Forge in Act One can make six different items, but the usual route provides only two Mithral Ore pieces, so you can craft two. The six choices are a longsword, mace, scale mail, scimitar, shield, and splint armour. Grym also drops Grymskull, an Adamantine helmet that is separate from the forge recipes.
All Adamantine Forge items in BG3
Each forge item requires one matching mould and one Mithral Ore. The moulds are reusable choices rather than the scarce resource; the two available ore pieces are what limit ordinary crafting to two items. Sources report that crafting the same item twice is possible, but that still uses both pieces of ore.
| Item | Equipment type | Required mould |
|---|---|---|
| Adamantine Longsword | Weapon | Longsword Mould |
| Adamantine Mace | Weapon | Mace Mould |
| Adamantine Scale Mail | Medium armour | Scale Mail Mould |
| Adamantine Scimitar | Weapon | Scimitar Mould |
| Adamantine Shield | Shield | Shield Mould |
| Adamantine Splint Armour | Heavy armour | Splint Mould |
There is no universally best pair established by these item and route references. Which two are useful depends on who is in your party, their equipment proficiencies and builds, the difficulty, and whether you expect to replace the gear later.
Where to find every Adamantine mould
All six moulds are in Grymforge or the Ancient Forge area. The coordinates below are reported by the BG3 Wiki Adamantine Forge quest reference; landmarks may be more helpful than coordinates while navigating.

How to reach and use the Adamantine Forge
The forge is in Act One’s Grymforge, in the Ancient Forge or Abandoned Refuge area. The route involves traversing the rubble area; movement abilities such as Jump, Misty Step, or Fly may help bypass parts of the traversal in some cases.
- Bring a mould and Mithral Ore. Each craft consumes one of each. Find the mould locations above, then collect the ore available in Grymforge.
- Load the forge. Put the mould in the mould chamber and the ore in the crucible.
- Lower the platform. Operate the forge controls to lower the platform into its working position.
- Fill the forge with lava. Use the lava valve as part of the forging sequence; Grym, the forge guardian, is encountered in this area.
- Use the hammer mechanism. The hammer completes the craft. Follow the in-game prompts and account for the encounter rather than assuming a specific tactic or bug-free sequence.
The platform can be raised and lowered. The quest reference warns that raising it before a second craft can make further crafting impossible until it is lowered again, so check its position before trying to use your remaining ore.
