Path to Menzoberranzan is a custom campaign being developed by a fan team for Baldur’s Gate 3. Its official Patreon description says the project is creating a campaign with new areas, voice-acted companions and a new story. The team’s Bluesky profile likewise characterizes it as a different story with fully voice-acted companions. Those are creator descriptions of the project’s aims, not confirmation that the features are complete.

How many companions are planned?
FRVR reported on November 6, 2025, that the finished campaign was intended to include six to eight companions (FRVR’s project report). A separate MegaGames report says the plan is for six to eight fully voiced companions and mentions two animal companions, attributing that information to lead writer Thomas Loughlin in a VideoGamer interview (MegaGames’ report). The original interview has not been verified here, so the additional animal-companion detail should be treated as secondary reporting.

The available project material does not establish the companions’ names, individual stories, romance options, or whether all planned voice work has been completed. What story and settings has the team described?
Project-related reporting and updates associate the campaign with Athkatla and Menzoberranzan, locations in the Forgotten Realms setting. The creators’ stated aim is a new story with new areas, but the available information does not settle the final geography, plot details, or campaign length. Treat the locations and scope as plans unless the team confirms them in a current update.

Is the campaign available to play?
The latest status evidence describes the mod as in development. FRVR’s November 2025 report discussed an expected first playable alpha in the following year; a later report on March 20, 2026, said the team was targeting an alpha later in 2026 after restructuring development (FRVR’s March 2026 update). An alpha target is a forecast, not a release notice. The project’s own account was still describing ongoing development and posting recruitment and progress updates in 2026 (official Bluesky profile).
No source cited here confirms that an alpha or full version has launched. Nor is a final release date, download, supported game version, platform compatibility, or system requirement established. Check the project’s official channels for a current release announcement before looking for a build.
