What to choose during the camp confrontation
Lae’zel confronts Shadowheart after discovering the mysterious artefact. When you get the chance to intervene, select the option to parley between them, then succeed on the Persuasion check at DC 10.
On success, Shadowheart stands down. Both companions agree to set aside their differences, and this confrontation does not lead to another fight between them over the artefact. The documented solution is the successful parley; the available information does not establish that threats or other dialogue choices produce the same outcome.
What if the Persuasion check fails?
The available account does not detail every failed-check branch or all origin-character variations, so it cannot confirm a guaranteed alternate way to stop the fight. For the documented peaceful outcome, choose parley and pass the DC 10 Persuasion check.

Known fixes for problems with this scene
Larian’s patch notes record fixes for historical problems involving the confrontation. Patch 6 addressed a bug that could prevent a player from leaving camp or entering Turn-Based Mode after killing Shadowheart following her fight with Lae’zel, and also fixed repeated information in the fight dialogue (Larian Studios’ Patch 6 notes).
Larian’s Patch 4 notes mention a fix to Lae’zel follow-up dialogue related to branches of the Act I fight. The Final Patch notes document additional fixes involving the defeated companion’s camp or party state and Shadowheart appearing dead in older saves after the showdown. These notes record past fixes; they do not establish that every older save or modded playthrough is free of issues.

Does parley affect companion approval?
The documented approval information concerns earlier recruitment decisions, not this Persuasion check. It lists approval changes for refusing to dismiss Lae’zel when Shadowheart makes her presence a condition of joining, and for persuading Shadowheart to join while Lae’zel is in the party. It does not establish that passing the parley check changes approval. The approval information is based on official in-game dialogue files through Patch 7, and its source cautions that bugs, mods, or approval caps can affect whether a change triggers (Lae’zel approval details; Shadowheart approval details).
