Only the Dark Urge Origin can unlock the Slayer form. You can earn it in Act 2 by killing Isobel or a qualifying companion, or in Act 3 by defeating Orin and accepting Bhaal’s offer. The choices have lasting story consequences: killing Isobel puts Last Light Inn at risk, while refusing Bhaal after Orin removes the form even if you already earned it.
Who can unlock the Slayer form?
The Slayer form is exclusive to the Dark Urge Origin. A custom character who is not playing the Dark Urge cannot obtain it through these routes.
Unlock it in Act 2
In the Shadow-Cursed Lands, the Dark Urge can receive the Slayer form after a qualifying killing. Sceleritas Fel appears at camp and grants the ability. The relevant camp event may also trigger automatically after the party leaves the Shadow-Cursed Lands. bg3.wiki’s Slayer entry and its Act Two camp-event listing describe the trigger.
Kill Isobel
During the Dark Urge storyline, kill Isobel when the opportunity arises. This is the more direct Act 2 route, but it has a major cost: Isobel sustains the ward protecting Last Light Inn. Her death ends that protection, triggering a fight involving the remaining Harpers and other enemies and exposing the inn’s inhabitants to the Shadow Curse. Kill a companion instead
If you refuse the order to kill Isobel, a later camp scene can give the Dark Urge another target: the character’s romantic partner, or, if there is no romance, the companion with the highest approval. The game excludes certain companions from this selection, so the target is not necessarily any companion you choose. This route sacrifices a significant companion and can substantially alter the story. The Act Two camp-event listing describes the target-selection rules.
Unlock it in Act 3
If you have not acquired the form in Act 2, you can still obtain it in Act 3. Defeat Orin and accept becoming Bhaal’s Chosen. Accepting Bhaal’s offer grants the Slayer form if you do not already have it. The Bhaal Temple entry details the encounter and choice.

There is an important catch if you already unlocked the form earlier: refusing Bhaal after defeating Orin removes your access to the Slayer form. The Act 3 decision can therefore undo an Act 2 unlock. Choose whether to accept Bhaal with that permanent consequence in mind. bg3.wiki’s Permanent Bonuses entry describes the effect of the choice.
What the Slayer form does and when you can use it
The Slayer form can be used once per long rest. If you already have it when you confront Orin, you can transform during the pre-duel interaction; this changes Orin’s form for the duel. The Slayer entry on bg3.wiki covers its use and the interaction.

Which route should you choose?
- Choose Isobel’s route if you want the Act 2 unlock and accept the danger to Last Light Inn and its inhabitants.
- Choose the companion route if you refused Isobel’s death but accept losing the selected romance partner or highest-approval companion.
- Choose Bhaal’s offer if you want to defer the decision until Act 3 and are willing to become Bhaal’s Chosen. Refusing him then means losing the form, including one earned earlier.
