Historical launch notice: Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7 went live on PC on September 5, 2024. It later arrived on PS5 on October 1 and Xbox Series X|S on October 2. Patch 7 added new evil-ending cinematics, Honour Mode changes, split-screen improvements and official mod support. It is not the game’s latest major update: Larian identifies Patch 8 as the last major update.
When did Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7 come out?
Larian released Patch 7 for PC on September 5, 2024. At launch, the studio said Mac and console versions needed additional technical checks and were expected in October. The rollout dates were October 1, 2024 for PS5 and October 2 for Xbox Series X|S. Larian’s official news listing later identified Patch 8 as the game’s last major update, so Patch 7 is not a current launch or the latest major patch.

What did Patch 7 add?
Larian’s launch announcement grouped the update’s headline features around evil endings, Honour Mode, split-screen play and official modding. It also included gameplay improvements and bug fixes.
- New evil-ending cinematics: The console announcements described 13 new cinematic Evil Endings, including endings for each Origin Character.
- Honour Mode changes: Patch 7 added new Legendary Actions and other Honour Mode improvements.
- Dynamic split-screen: In couch co-op, the two views merge when players approach each other and separate as they move apart.
- Official mod support: The update introduced the in-game Mod Manager and the Baldur’s Gate 3 Toolkit for creating mods on PC.
- Gameplay improvements and fixes: Larian also included general gameplay improvements and bug fixes in the update.

These are the Patch 7 rollout dates, not a statement about which platforms currently have the game or later updates.

How do the Mod Manager and Toolkit work?
The in-game Mod Manager lets players browse and install uploaded mods made with the Toolkit, then manage mods they have installed. The Toolkit is a separate PC creation tool: Larian’s support FAQ lists it for Windows PC, not Mac or consoles, and says its installation requires 160 GB of free space.
That Toolkit requirement is distinct from the storage instruction for installing Patch 7 itself. In its September 5, 2024 launch post, Larian described the PC patch download as approximately 11.6 GB and said 160 GB of free space was required to install it. Those are launch-era figures, not a guarantee of current download or installation sizes.
Console and Mac catalogs do not include every PC mod. Larian says only mods created and uploaded with the Toolkit that pass its internal testing are eligible for those in-game catalogs. Larian reported more than 1,000 uploaded mods and more than 15 million downloads on October 1, 2024, less than a month after the PC launch; that is a dated adoption snapshot, not a current total.
Can you use a modded PC save on console?
Sometimes. Larian’s later mod guidance says a cross-save can work when the PC save uses mods curated for the destination platform. A save that relies on mods the console does not approve cannot be loaded there. Before transferring, check that the destination platform’s catalog supports the mods used by the save.

What should players know about modded multiplayer?
Players in a modded multiplayer session need the same mods at the same versions. If one player has a different mod list or version, the group’s setups do not match. Larian also says achievements are automatically disabled while mods are in use.

No. Larian’s later news listing calls Patch 8 the game’s last major update and lists cross-play, 12 subclasses, Photo Mode, Xbox Series S split-screen, Toolkit changes, fixes and improvements among its features. Patch 7 remains the update that introduced the features described above, but it should not be mistaken for the latest major release.
