Patch 7 launched first on PC on September 5, 2024—but it is no longer PC-only. Larian began rolling it out to Mac and consoles on October 1, 2024. The update added new evil-ending cinematics, Honour Mode combat changes, split-screen improvements, bug fixes, and mod support. The official mod-making Toolkit remains PC-only; Mac and console players can browse a curated selection of community mods in-game.
When did Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7 release?
Larian released Patch 7 for PC on September 5, 2024, initially saying Mac and console versions would follow after additional technical checks. The rollout to Mac and consoles began on October 1, 2024. So “only for PC” describes the launch window, not the update’s eventual availability. Larian’s Patch 7 announcement and Community Update #29 document the two stages.
Larian’s August 2026 update discusses supported cross-play and lists current versions across PC/PS5, Steam Deck, and Xbox, further confirming that Patch 7’s initial platform gap is not the current state of the game. See Larian’s current update information for version details.
What did Patch 7 add?
The update combined story, combat, quality-of-life, and modding changes. Larian highlighted:

Larian’s original PC announcement described the patch download as approximately 11.6 GB and requested 160 GB of free space for installation. Those are release-day figures, not a promise about today’s download size or storage requirement.
Can you make and use mods on every platform?
No. The creation tools and the player-facing mod browser have different platform availability.

Larian says the Toolkit is free through Steam for PC owners. Its current support FAQ specifies Windows and a 64-bit processor and operating system, and lists 160 GB of free space as required. Recommended specifications include Windows 10 64-bit, an Intel i7-8700K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600, 32 GB of memory, an NVIDIA RTX 2060 Super or AMD RX 5700 XT with at least 8 GB of VRAM, and DirectX 11. Check Larian’s current mod information FAQ before installing, since requirements may change.
Why aren’t all PC mods available on console or Mac?
Those platforms use a curated catalog rather than the full range of PC mods. Larian says candidates must be made with its Toolkit, submitted for review, and pass internal checks for functionality, usability, and stability. The company cautions that not every PC mod will be available on Mac or console.

In Community Update #29, dated October 1, 2024, Larian reported that more than 1,000 mods had been uploaded and that they had received over 15 million downloads in less than a month after the PC launch. In that same update, it said 69 mods had passed internal testing for console and Mac. Those are historical counts, not current catalog totals.

- Cross-platform saves: Larian’s October 2024 guide said curated mods approved for the destination platform can accompany saves between platforms. A console cannot load a cross-save using PC mods that have not been approved for console.
- Modded multiplayer: Larian says players need matching mods and versions to play together.
- Achievements: Larian says achievements are automatically disabled while mods are in use.
