Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 8 went live on April 15, 2025. Larian Studios called it the game’s final major patch and its last update to introduce new content—but said minor bug fixes may still follow.
What Patch 8 added
The release focused on new ways to play, capture and create, rather than extending the story. Larian’s announcement lists these headline additions:
- Cross-play: Play across supported platforms.
- 12 new subclasses: One for each class.
- Photo Mode: Capture and customize in-game moments.
- Xbox Series S split-screen: Larian specifically called out split-screen support on Xbox Series S; its summary does not establish that feature for every platform.
- Modding Toolkit update: The patch also updated the game’s creator tools.
- Bug fixes and improvements: The release included additional fixes and refinements.

What Larian meant by “final”
Larian described Patch 8 as its “final major game patch” and said it would be the last patch to introduce new content. The studio left room for minor bug fixes, so “final” does not mean that no maintenance updates could ever arrive.

Patch 8 does not add a narrative expansion or make significant changes to storylines, Origin characters or companions. Larian said it was moving on to new work rather than continuing to make changes to Baldur’s Gate 3 indefinitely.
