When did BALL x PIT come to Switch 2?
Nintendo of America lists October 28, 2025 for BALL x PIT – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. Nintendo Australia lists October 29, 2025. The one-day difference reflects the regional storefront listings, so October 28 should not be treated as a universal date. Both dates are in the past.

What does the Switch 2 Edition add?
Nintendo describes the Switch 2 Edition as offering enhanced resolution and improved frame rates. Those are the specific upgrades stated on its store listings; the pages do not provide numerical resolution or frame-rate targets.

Can you play the original Switch version on Switch 2?
Yes. Nintendo’s listing for BALL x PIT for Nintendo Switch says the original Switch game is supported on Switch 2 and that its game behavior is consistent with Nintendo Switch. That is a compatibility statement, distinct from buying the Switch 2 Edition.
Nintendo’s U.S. listing also presents a Switch 2 edition selector and a separate digital item called the Upgrade Pack. The listing identifies the item, but the available information does not establish that existing Switch owners need a new console simply to receive free content. Compatibility, the Switch 2 Edition, and the Upgrade Pack are separate details; check Nintendo’s current regional store page for the applicable purchase options.

What were the free updates, and when did they arrive?
The content roadmap is separate from the Switch 2 release. In a January 26, 2026 PlayStation.Blog post, lead developer Kenny Sun described The Regal Update as the first of three completely free updates planned for the year. In a July 28, 2026 post, Sun called The Naturalist the final free update and announced August 6 as its release date. Nintendo’s current U.S. Switch 2 listing also describes The Naturalist as the final free update.
Those PlayStation Blog posts document the developer’s roadmap and announcements, including availability statements for PS5; they do not by themselves establish that every platform received each update simultaneously. Nintendo says The Naturalist adds two characters, 11 balls, and five passives. These are the content counts stated on Nintendo’s listing, not a claim about how the additions play or how they are distributed across platforms.
